DAY 2 Lamington, Tamborine Mountain & O'Reilly's Retreat
Located atop a lush and verdant mountain in the heart of Lamington National Park, O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat is a wonderland of natural exotic beauty. Mist shrouded mountains, draped in subtropical rainforest, red cedar and rosewood, house a dazzling array of spectacular birds including crimson Rosella and green catbirds. Explore the enchanting rainforest, walk through the canopy of trees on the Tree Top Walk and visit the fantastical World Heritage listed Lamington National Park to see the wonder and beauty of Mother Nature at its most breathtaking.
Today we visit the Gold Coast Hinterland, Canungra, Tamborine Mountain, Lamington National Park and the famous O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat. The mountain top's subtropical rainforest features vine clad vegetation, ancient tree species, over 500 waterfalls and 250 species of unique wildlife. Views go right out to the Gold Coast and the Pacific Ocean. The pioneering O'Reilly family have been synonymous with this region since 1912. O'Reilly's is located on the western edge of the Lamington Plateau and is also blessed with spectacular vistas across the Kerry Valley over the McPherson Ranges and the Great Dividing Range. Escape to a world of ancient forests, fresh mountain air, crystal clear creeks and breathtaking sunsets.
Your friendly driver will pick you up in the comfortable air-conditioned luxury coach before sharing experiences, fascinating facts and enchanting stories in the onboard full commentary throughout the day. We travel deep into the Gold Coast hinterland via Canungra and Tamborine Mountain. Head inland into the mountain range of eucalypt forest and onto Mt Tamborine, stopping at Gallery Walk (boasting over 70 art, craft, gift and knick-knack shops) with plenty of time to wander through this quaint village. Continue through the winding forest road to The Goat's Track (original logging route), see spectacular scenery of ancient beech trees and subtropical rainforests, pass the Kokoda Army Barracks Jungle Warfare Training Centre, enter Lamington National Park (lush rainforests, ancient trees, spectacular views, extensive walking tracks, exceptional ecological importance and natural beauty of World Heritage Area listed Gondwana Rainforests), hear the stories of the heroic rescue by Bernard O'Reilly of the Stinson plane crash survivors and the fascinating life of these early pioneers, immerse yourself in the surrounds of the subtropical rainforest of the Green Mountains. Visit O'Reilly's Plateau and the mountain top retreat for around 2 hours enjoying a tour through the mountain village, marvel at the spectacular views of the mountain ranges and learn more of the ecosystem and prolific unique wildlife and plants. Take the Tree Top Walk through a canopy of flowering and fruiting trees covered by vines, whilst you explore the epiphytic orchids and ferns surrounded by the many tree-top birds and animals. It is 180 metres in length and is made up of 9 suspension bridges (some as high as 30 metres off the ground). Interpretive profiles explain the rainforest species visible. Perhaps feed crimson rosellas and king parrots, perhaps try the rainforest Segway Tour. On the journey back down to the Gold Coast we visit an alpaca farm (or Kamarun Lookout on Tuesdays). The memory these remarkable mountain top views, the lush rainforest and the crisp mountain air will be cherished for a long time.

DAY 3 Surfers Paradise, Cruise & Outback Spectacular Show Special Dinner
Surfers Paradise is the aptly named and world-famous jewel of the Gold Coast. Sun-kissed surfers ride the white crested waves under glorious blue skies, golden sands glisten and shimmer in the warmth of the sun. It's the entertainment hub of the Gold Coast, with winding streets full of galleries, shops, alfresco cafes, restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs. The vibrant, fun atmosphere is lively and energetic. With attractions galore, including theme parks, quality shopping and a thriving arts and culture scene, you'll see first-hand just why this is one of Australia's premier destinations. Surfers Paradise is flanked by the Pacific Ocean on one side and the spectacular Gold Coast Broadwater-Way on the other side, well known for its swanky million dollar real-estate.
Today you will experience an amphibious tour of the Surfers Paradise strip and cruise the Gold Coast Broadwater-Way. It's a combined land tour and cruise in the same 'duck' vehicle. We start off with a tour through the bustling streets of Surfers, including along glorious beaches, to the six-star Versace Hotel, the resort-style exotic Marina and the Mirage Shopping Centre. We then drive right into the water, where the bus turns into a boat and we start our cruise on the beautiful Broadwater-Way near the fabulous millionaires' row. The Broadwater-Way extends for 19 kilometres and includes Spit arm, Marine Stadium, Fisherman’s Wharf, Spit foreshore, Sea World, Fishing fleet, Versace Hotel, Marina Mirage, Water Police, Southport Yacht Club, Pelican Beach at Main Beach, Southport Parklands, Marine Parade, Harley Park Labrador, Paradise Point and the Esplanades of Biggera Waters, Runaway Bay and Hollywell. Tonight's Special Dinner is at the Outback Spectacular Show. The all-new $23 million 'Spirit of the Horse' extravaganza show features highly entertaining larger than life characters. One of Australia's most legendary stories is brought to life in the specially designed world class arena. Be thoroughly entertained by an amazingly talented cast of performers, skilled stockmen and a huge array of incredible animals including horses, cattle, sheep, dogs and even Shetland ponies. Stunning special effects will have you on the edge of your seat as we pay tribute to the legend that is Phar Lap. You're treated to a stirring musical score composed exclusively for the show, as well as popular music composed and written by country music legend Lee Kernaghan. DAY 4 Byron Bay & Mt Warning Volcano
Byron Bay is world-renowned for its sensational surfing beaches, stunning rural beauty and relaxed bohemian ambience. It's a chic seaside town with a new-age feel and loads of style. It is considered the spiritual home of Australia's hippy movement and its laid-back lifestyle and outstanding natural beauty has attracted artists of all types. This iconic destination is set against a gorgeous backdrop of lush and verdant volcanic hills. Pods of majestic humpback whales gambol in the turquoise ocean, huge tail-fins rising from deep-blue seas. Reinvigorate body and mind in world-class spas and health retreats. Byron Bay will enchant, captivate and charm you.
See the lighthouse high on the crest of Cape Byron, dramatic cliffs dropping down to the ocean, endless stretches of pristine beaches and lush rainforests. Visit Australia's most easterly point at Cape Byron. Wander through the township with its friendly village atmosphere and meet some of Byron's colourful mix of people (many enjoying an alternative 'off the grid' life-style). The region is a hippie haven, with a Hemp Embassy, a museum showcasing Kombi culture and celebrates everything non-mainstream. From international musicians and world renowned sculptors to surfers and novelists, the region continues to inspire people to create things and express themselves freely. Visit artists’ studios, boutique galleries and the handimarket.
We tour south through the Gold Coast's sprawling beaches and suburbs, see well known beaches and suburbs. Cross the state border from Queensland to New South Wales, see Tweed Heads, tour through the Tweed Valley (heart of sugar cane country), along the NSW North Coast's Northern Rivers region, past Mount Warning (volcanic feature of the Tweed Volcano), Wollumbin National Park and onto fashionable Byron Bay. See Cape Byron Headland Reserve (a protected coastal rainforest) and Cape Byron Lighthouse (built in 1901 and the most easterly point of Australia). Spend plenty of time exploring Byron Bay - perhaps browse the handicraft markets, shops, galleries, artisans’ studios, enjoy a leisurely lunch, a walk or swim at the beach or just relax and watch the interesting and colourful locals. Discover the main streets of Bay Lane, Johnson Street and Lawson Street. Byron Bay is well known for its creativity, with many locals making fascinating items to sell at the markets. Local producers from surfboard and hat makers to cookie and corn chip chefs have all helped Byron Bay become known as a place that produces top quality products made with "care and love". This afternoon en route back to the Gold Coast, we stop off at Tropical Fruit World for afternoon tea.

DAY 5 Sea World Day
Sea World is a world-class marine mammal park, oceanarium, and adventure park featuring an amazing array of animal sanctuaries, educational shows and thrilling entertainment. You'll be charmed by the Dolphin Nursery Pool, part of Sea World's extremely rewarding dolphin breeding program and thrilled by Shark Bay, the interactive man-made shark lagoon.
Today you have a full day pass to explore Sea World at your own pace. Make friends with some remarkable characters of the sea, such as playful dolphins, cute polar bears, hilarious seals and even dancing penguins. It first opened in 1958, but every year since it has been re-inventing itself. New exhibits, shows and features make this a perennial Gold Coast favourite.
Some of the major animal features include: Dolphin Nursery Pool (highly successful dolphin breeding program), Shark Bay (world's largest man-made lagoon system for sharks, including a touch pool), Penguin Encounter (massive pool with under and above water viewing), Penguin Point (with up to 60 little penguins), Polar Bear Shores (four polar bears, including a cub), Ray Reef (meet, feed and learn about one of the ocean's most misunderstood inhabitants), Rescue Point Lighthouse (showcases achievements of Sea World's Research and Rescue Foundation), Seabird Rehabilitation Aviary (houses birds under care and rehabilitation) and Seal Harbour (20 seal and sea lions). Some of the major shows include: Fish Detectives (new sea lion show), Imagine (dolphin show set in the largest sandy bottom lagoon ever built for dolphins), Jet Stunt Extreme (live jet-ski-based stunt show located on the Sea World lake) and Dora's Best Friends Adventure (live stage show featuring Dora and Diego). Some of the rides include: Sea World Monorail System (travel between three stations throughout the park) and the Sky High Skyway (a unique bird's eye view of the park).
