Fly to Adelaide and begin your Murray River adventure. You will be personally met at the airport by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred from the airport to your hotel.

DAY 2 Adelaide City Tour

Adelaide is famous for stylish architecture, beautiful parklands, boutique shopping, cafe strips, sandy swimming beaches, fabulous arts events, festivals, nightlife, and sandstone cottages with sweeping gardens. The diverse cultural mix of its population guarantees that the food is sensational. Adelaide is Australia's wine capital and lies between rolling hills to the east and beautiful sandy beaches to the west, with world class vineyards within easy reach.

Your friendly driver will pick you up in the comfortable air-conditioned luxury coach before sharing experiences, fascinating facts and enchanting stories in the onboard full commentary throughout the morning. Today see Victoria Square (heart of Adelaide City), Gouger Street (restaurant cafe strip), King William Street's famous boulevard, The Terraces (4 terraces that separate the city from its greenbelts) and Adelaide's magnificent parks, gardens and greenbelts. DAY 3 Explore Adelaide

Spend the day taking in the sights and surrounds of Adelaide. Visit the famous Adelaide Hills or spend the day exploring the churches, parks and famous museums and galleries of Adelaide.

Alternatively, you can visit the seaside town of Glenelg, famous for its beaches and many tourist attractions.

The choice is yours.

DAY 4 Board the Murray Princess and Cruise to Piggy Flat/Coolcha

This afternoon enjoy a scenic drive by luxury coach to Mannum to begin your 8 day Murray Princess Upper Murraylands Cruise. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner as you cruise north towards Piggy Flat/Coolcha. Look for nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank such as kangaroos, hairy-nosed wombats, tortoises and many other species as you enjoy music from your onboard entertainer and cruise under floodlight to your overnight mooring at Piggy Flat/Coolcha.

DAY 5 Wildlife Tour & Cruise to Wagon Wheel Landing

Take in the spectacular Murray River scenery at daybreak and watch for the prolific birdlife of the area including swans, pelicans and wrens. Enjoy a small group, personalised wildlife tour on your discovery vessel to spot for the amazing birdlife of the region in the maze of the river including darters, herons and egrets feeding along the muddy edges. 

For those wishing to stay onboard, enjoy a game of bocce or fishing challenges before continuing your cruise upriver past Walker Flat and Sugar Shack Conservation Park. This afternoon you have the opportunity to experience a special presentation in the Sturt Dining Room on the bounty of food and wine produced in the Riverland – accompanied by delicious food and wine tastings. Continue to Wagon Wheel Landing, your mooring for the night.

DAY 6 Cruise the Murray to Morgan

Continue cruising north today and pass through Lock 1, one of the 13 locks that maintain the water level and flow of the Murray River. Enjoy free time to relax and immerse yourself in the Murray River landscapes. This afternoon, perhaps join in the fun playing a few games of Bingo.

Late this afternoon we secure the vessel at Morgan and after dinner you can join the ‘Morgan by Night’ historic walk of the township offering an opportunity to explore Morgan’s rich history.

DAY 7 Cruise to Waikerie and Banrock Station Wine and Wetland Centre

Today our morning unfolds with a scenic coach transfer to the charming Riverland town of Waikerie and the Banrock Station Wine and Wetland Centre nestled on the banks of the meandering Murray. Enjoy some leisure time exploring Waikerie, then indulge in wine tasting at Banrock Station's cellar door, followed by a delightful lunch and a captivating video presentation. Take time to wander through the lush gardens and orchards, soaking in the tranquil surroundings. 

As the day draws to a close, we return by coach to Morgan, where the P.S. Murray Princess awaits. Our journey upriver continues and we moor for the night at the picturesque 326km mark of the Murray River, embracing the beauty and serenity of this remarkable landscape.

DAY 8 Cruise to Hogwash Bend to Morgan to Blanchetown with Winery Visit

After breakfast, we continue upriver to our turnaround point at peaceful Hogwash Bend, a spot known for its natural beauty. We then enjoy a relaxed lunch while drifting downriver toward Morgan. 

On arrival at Morgan you have the opportunity to join a guided walk of the township and the Living History Museum, gaining insight into the towns intriguing past. Morgan was once the home port of hundreds of paddle-steamers that carried cargo and passengers up the Murray-Darling River system during the 1800’s. Learn about the stories of the paddle-steamer era before returning to the P.S. Murray Princess and continuing your journey south.

We moor opposite Blanchetown this afternoon where a visit to the Burk Salter Boutique Winery awaits. We enjoy wine tasting at the cellar door, complete with beautifully crafted red gum bars. After dinner, the evening wraps up with some light-hearted fun and friendly competition during the “Murray River Cup.”

DAY 9 Cruise to Swan Reach and Sunnydale

After breakfast cruise to Swan Reach, now home to native flower and fruit growers, the town was first settled in the 1850’s and was the largest of five sheep and cattle stations in the area. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the township and visit the Swan Reach Museum. Perhaps pause for a refreshing ale or delicious cappuccino at the original Swan Reach Homestead – now the Swan Reach Hotel.

We then cruise south towards Sunnydale and take in the tranquillity of the area as we reach our overnight mooring. On arrival at Sunnydale, it’s all ashore to watch the Woolshed Show, an insight into typical Australian Woolshed history. Later, visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where you can see some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals, before enjoying a special barbecue dinner cooked and served on the banks of the Murray River. After dinner you may choose to take an optional nocturnal tour to look for wildlife.

DAY 10 Cruise from Sunnydale to Younghusband

This morning, enjoy an early morning bush walk with the Captain or you may choose to experience an optional Bush Tucker Breakfast. Cruise downriver to Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park while taking in views of the spectacular cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. 

Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park is one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites and home to the Nganguraku people who have lived there for at least 5000 years. Take a guided tour along the boardwalk to view ancient rock carvings and learn about the Aboriginal history of the area.

Later, return to the P.S. Murray Princess and continue cruising south to your overnight mooring, Younghusband. Enjoy a scenic tender boat ride along the way if you wish. Tonight enjoy a delicious final night dinner with your fellow passengers and delight in the evening entertainment.

DAY 11 Cruise to Mannum & Fly Home

Today marks the end of your Murray River adventure. Cruise back to Mannum this morning. Say farewell to the Captain and crew after breakfast and enjoy your scenic coach transfer to Adelaide Airport for your flight home.
