DAYS 1–4 Indian Pacific Sydney to Adelaide to Perth

Fly into Sydney and be personally met at the airport by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred from the airport to the Indian Pacific railway station to begin your journey to Perth.

Your epic journey from Sydney to Perth takes you along the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world, it's a journey of contrast encompassing some of Australia's most beautiful and diverse landscapes including the magnificent Blue Mountains and the vast empty expanse of the Nullarbor Plain.

As the Indian Pacific arrives into Perth on day 4, you can sense the laid-back pace of this beautiful city fringed between the Indian Ocean and Swan River. You will be transferred from the railway station on arrival in Perth to your hotel. You can relax and use the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around the neighbourhood and central Perth.

Day 6 Pinnacles, Lancelin, Wildlife & 4WD

Lying in the Nambung National Park, the Pinnacles are a breathtaking wonder of Mother Nature. These amazing, natural limestone structures hold an exquisite air of mystique and intrigue, especially as the sun's warm hue illuminates the magical stones. Caversham Wildlife Park is set within Whiteman Park with 4000 hectares of magnificent native Western Australian flora and is the ideal place to see animals totally unique to the State, like the famous quokka. The plants and animals in each section represent different regions and you can also learn about WA’s conservation efforts. The popular rock lobster fishing village of Lancelin is set on a large Indian Ocean bay overlooking two islands and is surrounded massive 2km long crisp white sand dunes that attract avid sandboarders. During spring, the Western Australian landscape explodes in a kaleidoscope of colour and beauty as thousands of magnificent wildflowers bloom in a spectacular seasonal show of nature at its most breathtaking.

Today explore Caversham Wildlife Park, discover the amazing natural wonder of the Pinnacles Desert in Nambung National Park, tour a lobster processing and live export facility and experience the famous sand dunes of Lancelin.

You will be picked up this morning from your hotel for your full day tour to the famous Pinnacles. Enjoy a stop at Caversham Wildlife Park to interact with remarkable native animals, wander through the hand-feeding areas and admire WA’s endemic plants and trees. Depart Caversham heading to the laid-back lobster fishing village of Cervantes (pristine white sand beach, turquoise waters teeming with marine life, popular kitesurfing and windsurfing beach) for a stop. Experience a behind the scenes tour of the live processing of Indian Ocean rock lobster, including an overhead walkway where you will stand above 20 tonnes of lobster being prepared for live export around the world; and learn about the town’s multi-million dollar lobster industry. Stop and enjoy a delicious fish and chip lunch (other options available). Continue to Nambung National Park (array of coastal dunes, rich in flowering plants, beautiful beaches of Kangaroo Point and Hangover Bay, western grey kangaroos) where we learn about the remarkable natural environment that houses the Pinnacles Desert. See the Pinnacles from the lookout or take a stroll through part of the Pinnacles Desert (containing thousands of limestone pinnacles, up to 5 meters high, over a massive area of 190 hectares) to get up close to these remarkable and mystical geological features. Visit the Pinnacle Desert Discovery Centre to learn even more about these natural wonders. Later you have the opportunity to experience or witness the thrill of sandboarding down the huge towering sand dunes and to take an optional light 4WD tour along the towering white sand dunes in Lancelin, the largest in Western Australia. Stop to see wildflowers throughout the day whilst they are in season (including orange flowering christmas tree, kangaroo paw, banksia, wattle and everlastings). Head back to Perth along the Indian Ocean Drive with your camera full of remarkable images of today's great adventure.

Day 7 Swan River Cruise with Special Lunch

The stunning Swan River meanders its way through the beautiful city of Perth, this scenic and vibrant waterway is the city's beating heart. Perth's residents make the most of this wonderful waterway, families picnic on its banks, joggers and cyclists follow its course and boats bob gently on its shimmering waters under endless blue skies. The Swan River is the perfect spot from which to view the wonderful cityscape of Perth, its northern waters lead to the stunning Swan Valley, Western Australia's world-renowned wine producing region and westward the river leads to the historic and charming city of Fremantle and the azure Indian Ocean.

Today experience a scenic cruise to Fremantle and the Indian Ocean whilst enjoying your Special Buffet Lunch. See the city skyline, Kings Park, millionaire's row, giant sand spit and the bustling historic port of Fremantle. Choose from a selection of wines or beer to accompany your delicious Special Lunch and enjoy morning tea.

You are transferred to beautiful Barrack Street Jetty in the heart of the city, see the building work of the massive new riverfront Elizabeth Quay, named in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Set sail on your large stable vessel for today's river cruise. Enjoy spectacular views as you cruise the calm waters between Perth and Fremantle. Your Captain will point out the many sights, including Perth's impressive Bell Tower, Kings Park, the restored old Swan Brewery, Royal Perth Yacht Club, many magnificent homes overlooking the river and Fremantle's busy inner harbour. You will learn about Perth's rich history (and about some of its more notorious individuals). Tea and coffee is served in the morning. Your delicious Special Buffet Lunch is taken onboard looking out over million dollar river views. It includes hot dishes, continental meats, fresh local prawns and mixed variety of gourmet salads all followed by cake and dessert. You have a choice of wines, beer or soft drinks. Day 8 Rottnest Island Quokka Day

A short cruise from Perth or Fremantle, Rottnest Island is a wonderland of white sand beaches, pristine bays, stunning scenery and is a haven for wildlife, spot for quokkas, wallabies and dolphins, walk the Wadjemup Trail, hire a cycle, enjoy a free guided walking tour and swim and relax at a choice of 63 beaches and 20 secluded bays.

Enjoy a cruise to Rottnest Island with informative commentary and explore the many beaches, meet a quokka, discover the history and unique flora of the area in your luxury coach tour of the island. Enjoy lunch at Aristos Rottnest Island before cruising back to Perth in the evening.

Day 9 Tour to Albany

Depart Perth this morning and travel south to the Diamond Tree where you have the opportunity to climb to the top for stunning views of the forest below.

Later, visit the Valley of the Giants and experience the Tree Top Walk, a boardwalk 40 metres above the forest floor for more great views of the surrounding forest before taking a stroll through the Ancient Empire.

Take time to enjoy a swim or walk at Greens Pool or Elephant Rocks and take in breathtaking views of the rugged Western Australian coastline from the Natural Bridge and The Gap, and later continue to your overnight accommodation at Albany.

Day 10 Tour to Esperance

After breakfast, visit Mt Clarence for panoramic vistas of Albany, and perhaps see whales in season.

See Dog Rock before visiting the Mt Romance Sandalwood Factory. You will also have the chance to sample local wines before travelling through the Stirling Ranges to your overnight accommodation at Esperance. En route to Esperance enjoy a picnic lunch at Bluff Knoll and see the seasonal wildflowers on the scenic drive towards Esperance.

Day 11 Explore Esperance

Travel to cape le Grand National Park today and enjoy a climb Frenchman’s Peak. Enjoy a relaxing swim at Lucky Bay or Hell Fire Bay before enjoying a coastal drive past Twilight Cove and Blue Haven beaches.

Later, return to Esperance and enjoy some free time to explore the township before dinner.

Day 12 Tour to Perth via Wave Rock

Depart Esperance this morning and journey to the famous Wave Rock. Take in the beauty of this natural wonder and explore this amazing formation as well as Hippo’s Yawn.

Continue your journey to Perth and after lunch see native wildlife such as koalas, emus and kangaroos at a wildlife park, before visiting the dog cemetery and seeing a rabbit proof fence. Take in the wildflowers on your way back to Perth and arrive back in Perth this evening.

Day 13 Fly Home
