DAY 2 Adelaide Luxury Coach Tour & River Cruise

DAY 3 Barossa Valley with Special Lunch

Head to the Adelaide Hills to explore one of Australia’s best and most famous wine-producing regions – the Barossa Valley. Regarded as one of the finest wine regions in the world, the Barossa is home to Australia's most expensive wine, Penfolds Grange. Enjoy your delicious Special Lunch at a renowned winery restaurant, including tastings, winemaking tour and wine education. Explore some of the quaint and charming villages in the Adelaide Hills, part of the Mount Lofty Ranges. See the heavy influence of the original German settlers, such as buildings with steeply sloping roofs, Lutheran stone churches and try the local versions of Germanic cuisine. Visit Hahndorf, the beautiful Lutheran settlement dating back to 1838, with its arts, crafts, cottage industry shops, pubs, traditional small goods and bakeries that evoke the tastes and smells of Bavaria.

Leaving Adelaide, we begin our enchanting journey northwards to the world-renowned Barossa wine region. Watch as the scenery transforms before your eyes as we meander our way through the bucolic vineyards of South Australia’s premium wine district. Discover the art of great winemaking on your 'Behind the Scenes' guided tour of Jacob’s Creek Wines, housed in a charming historic chateau. Enjoy a tutored wine tasting incorporating introductory wine education, view the original winery built in 1897 with traditional winemaking equipment, be taken on a tour of the surrounding vines and cellar door, and then enjoy morning tea as you overlook the postcard perfect vineyards.

Experience the panoramic views over the Barossa Valley from Mengler's Hill lookout, before enjoying a fascinating wine tasting followed by a delicious two-course lunch at Lambert Estate in Angaston. After lunch, we leave the Barossa behind, as our path leads us through the historic Adelaide Hills, a region brimming with country charm. Along the way, we encounter the Herbig Family Tree in Springton, whose hollowed trunk provided a ‘home’ for Friedrich and Caroline Herbig, along with their 16 children, until 1860. Next, we visit Beerenberg Farm Shop, where history and tradition thrive. Explore the shop, overflowing with Beerenberg's products and local treasures, each one carrying a piece of the region's heritage.

From here, the coach will deliver you to whimsical Hahndorf (Australia's oldest German settlement), where you will enjoy free time to stroll under the Elm trees along Hahndorf's main street, see quaint cottages, craft shops, galleries and tea rooms and perhaps visit one of the historic pubs where you can sample some German beers. Head back to Adelaide with a deep appreciation of the Australian wine industry and the beauty of the Adelaide Hills.

DAY 4 Murray Riverboat with Special Lunch

Cruise along the mighty Murray River in a purpose-built boutique riverboat and enjoy a Special Two Course Lunch onboard. Discover the magic of the Murray aboard this intimate vessel, evoking the style of the legendary Mississippi river cruisers and the original paddle steamers that shaped the successful development of this part of the Murray. Learn the rich history of one of the world's greatest river systems and the key town of Mannum. DAY 5 Victor Harbor & Southern Highlights

The Fleurieu Peninsula is a holiday playground of wineries, seaside towns and lakes whose population trebles during holiday periods. The splendid seaside resort township of Victor Harbor is where the mouth of the massive Murray River finally meets the ocean. The old paddle-steamer port of Goolwa is on Lake Alexandrina, near the Murray Mouth and is joined by a bridge to Hindmarsh Island.

Tour through the Mt Lofty Ranges with its many quaint villages and panoramic views. Stop at historic Strathalbyn on the Angas River – a delightful town adorned with antique stores, markets, bakeries, and cafes – the perfect place to find some indulgent morning tea. Pass through the Currency Creek wine region on route to the river Port of Goolwa (where the Murray River meets the lakes and sea) to enjoy a brief tour around the wharf, barrage and beach areas, before travelling on to Port Elliot, Horseshoe Bay and Victor Harbor. Enjoy some free time in Victor Harbour to explore this seaside gem. Perhaps grab some lunch, explore the town, ride a horse drawn tram across the causeway to Granite Island or take a Seal Island Cruise.

Next, surrender to the enchantment of spellbinding Encounter Bay and Rosetta Head. Keep your eyes peeled for The Bluff, a majestic sentinel that watches over the charming township of Victor Harbor. Our path then leads us through the renowned wine country of McLaren Vale where vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see. Before we return to Adelaide, we'll be graced by some of the most picturesque southern metropolitan beaches - Port Noarlunga and Moana, each a haven of natural beauty and tranquillity, where the waves kiss the shore and the sun paints the sky in hues of gold and crimson.

DAY 9 Uluru with Special Dinner

Uluru is one of the world's most recognisable natural landmarks and is regarded in geology as an "Island Mountain". Stand in awe as it overwhelms your senses with its sheer scale, its changing colours, its incredible texture, its spirit and its wonder. The monolith of Uluru (Ayers Rock) is listed as a World Heritage Site and is 25km from Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) - a beautiful collection of protruding rock domes. Both of these remarkable features form the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park which is home to a plethora of springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings. Uluru and the Kata Tjuta have great cultural significance for the Anangu Aboriginal people who share their Dreamtime stories.

Learn of Aboriginal Tjukurpa and rock art on the Mala Walk and take a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole to see amazing Aboriginal rock art, learn of the law, legends and bush tucker of the beautiful Anangu people. DAY 10 West MacDonnell Range Luxury Coach Tour

Today explore the iconic West MacDonnell Ranges that form the dramatic ochre red back-drop to Alice Springs, including Standley Chasm, Ellery Creek, Big Hole, Ormiston Gorge and Glen Helen Gorge. This amazing Central Australian geological feature has many hidden treasures for you to discover.
  
Travel west on Larapinta Drive, passing the John Flynn Memorial (foot of the Mt Gillen), see what remains of the twin ghost gums (famous painting by Albert Namatjira), stop at Standley Chasm (amazing red cleft that glows) for a delicious morning tea, perhaps walk into the Chasm (Angkerle Creek bed). Stop at Ellery Creek Big Hole (optional short walk to the cool waterhole), visit the Ochre Pits and Glen Helen Gorge (semi permanent waterhole) before your scrumptious lunch (with beer, wine or soft drink). Experience Ormiston Gorge and waterhole, with time to enjoy the refreshing waterhole (perhaps have a well deserved swim). Visit Simpsons Gap. All the time spotting for the amazing wildlife such as eagles, kites and falcons (soaring above the range on warm currents) as well as black footed rock wallabies and desert lizards.

DAY 11 Palm Valley 4WD Luxury Coach Tour

Palm Valley is well named. The contrast of the magnificent green palm trees against the red ochre earth and blue sky is a sight to be seen. The desert oasis of Palm Valley is the only place in Central Australia where livistona palms survive from the red centre's tropical past.
  
Today we take a luxury 4WD vehicle to the heart of the outback on an adventure to discover this amazing area. We head west on Larapinta Drive out of Alice Springs, travel alongside the ochre coloured West MacDonnells, cross vast open outback plains on Namatjira Drive, into the Aboriginal homelands of the beautiful Arrernte people and then stop to visit Hermannsburg (an 1870's Lutheran mission). Wander through historic buildings, the Hermannsburg Museum and Art Gallery and learn the reality of Aboriginal history in this region. Enjoy morning tea at Hermannsburg. Head off-road and onto the dry bed of the Finke River, follow the riverbed to Finke Gorge National Park, 4WD further into the gorge to Palm Valley, walk on the dry river bed with its amazing livistona palms and cycads (palm and fern like plants that are either all male or all female), walk along the valley rim with stunning views over Palm Valley, at Kalarranga Lookout experience amazing views over the Amphitheatre and Finke Valley. Enjoy a delicious ploughman's lunch in these spectacular surroundings. Witness the changing colours of the West MacDonnells in the afternoon light. This is a truly beautiful and spiritual destination. The iconic Litchfield National Park is famous for stunning cascading tropical waterfalls, warm swimming holes, the Tabletop Range sandstone plateau, monsoon tropical rainforests, intriguing magnetic termite mounds and ancient aboriginal sites of the Wagait people. DAY 18 Jumping Crocodiles Luxury Day Tour

Travel inland to cruise a section of the Adelaide River. The Adelaide River starts in Litchfield National Park and is well known for its high concentration of saltwater crocodiles, along with other wildlife. DAY 19 Kakadu Luxury Day Tour and Cruise

World Heritage-listed Kakadu is internationally famous for very good reason. Experience Australia’s biggest national park - with its dramatic escarpments, tropical rainforest, lush wetlands, millions of migratory birds, thundering waterfalls, sparkling waterholes, crocodiles, rock art galleries (up to 50,000 years old) and traditional aboriginal owners, the happy and proud Bininj / Mungguy people.
  
At Kakadu National Park on the South Alligator River, take a short guided walk to Nourlangie Rock to see ancient Aboriginal rock art (optional but included in the price), enjoy a tropical buffet lunch (cold meats, salad and fruit), take a 1.5 hour guided cruise on Yellow Water Billabong, spotting for crocodiles, brolgas, magpie geese and kites. Take in the serenity and beauty of the Kakadu wetlands. Head back into Darwin after a full day of discovery.

DAY 20 Say Goodbye to Darwin

Rail and Airport Transfers Included

You will be transferred from Adelaide Airport on arrival in Adelaide to your central Adelaide hotel and transferred from your Adelaide hotel to the Ghan railway station. You will be transferred from the railway station on arrival in Alice Springs to your Alice Springs hotel. You will later be transferred from your hotel to the Ghan railway station for your journey to Darwin and from the Ghan railway station on arrival in Darwin to your Darwin hotel. You will also be transferred from your hotel to Darwin airport for your journey home.

Domestic border restrictions have ended for nearly all States, meaning you:

  • don’t need to apply for a border pass
  • won’t need a Covid test
  • won’t need to quarantine
