Day 1 – Welcome to Alice Springs

As you arrive into the Red Centre of Australia you can still sense the strong pioneering outback spirit of Alice Springs. You will be personally met at the airport by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred from the airport to your hotel. You can relax and use the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around the neighbourhood and central Alice Springs.

Nestled in the heart of Australia's rugged Red Centre, Alice Springs is a place where ancient landscapes and vibrant Aboriginal culture converge to create a captivating tapestry of experiences. The town's ochre-coloured sands and the rugged silhouette of the MacDonnell Ranges form a dramatic backdrop for its exceptional Aboriginal art galleries, fascinating desert flora and fauna and mesmerising, star filled night skies. This is a town truly immersed in the essence of the Australian outback.

Day 2 – Alice Springs Luxury Coach Tour

Your Central Australian adventure starts off today by exploring the modern face of the historic pioneer town of Alice Springs, famous for Afghan cameleers, gold-diggers, flying doctor base, school of the air, The Ghan train, the usually dry Todd River, the Simpson Desert, 'A Town Like Alice', contemporary Aboriginal art (Todd Mall) and the Aboriginal Arrernte people who have lived here for over 30,000 years.

Enjoy a morning at your leisure to explore Alice Springs, before setting off on our 4 hour luxury coach tour with great informative commentary from our experienced local guide. Visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service (headquarters of the globally respected medical service providing a critical link to remote communities throughout the Northern Territory), Historic Telegraph Station (site of the first European settlement in Alice Springs, established in 1872 to relay messages between Darwin and Adelaide), School of the Air (provides education to primary school aged children living on remote properties throughout the Northern Territory since 1951), Anzac Hill (dedicated as a war memorial to honour those that have fallen in Australia’s wars, with magnificent panoramic views over Alice and the surrounding West MacDonnell Ranges) and Alice Springs Reptile Centre (amazing NT animals like, saltwater crocodiles, huge goannas, frill-neck lizards and Gecko Cave). You will also get a great orientation of thriving Alice Springs, touring through the town and seeing the other main attractions such as the Cultural Precinct, National Pioneer Women's Hall of Fame, Road Transport Hall of Fame, Old Ghan Train Museum, Olive Pink Botanic Gardens and Todd Mall.

Day 3 – West MacDonnell Range Luxury Coach Tour

Today explore the iconic West MacDonnell Ranges that form the dramatic ochre red back-drop to Alice Springs, including Standley Chasm, Ellery Creek Big Hole, Ormiston Gorge and Glen Helen Gorge. This amazing Central Australian geological feature has many hidden treasures for you to discover. Marvel at the towering red walls set aglow by the desert sun as you soak up the epic grandeur of this iconic Red Centre destination.

Take in spectacular outback scenery as we travel west on Larapinta Drive, passing the John Flynn Memorial (foot of the Mt Gillen), see what remains of the twin ghost gums (famous painting by Albert Namatjira). Enjoy a beautiful walk at Simpsons Gap, all the time spotting for the amazing wildlife such as eagles, kites and falcons (soaring above the range on warm currents) as well as black footed rock wallabies and desert lizards. Stop at Standley Chasm (amazing red cleft that glows) for a delicious morning tea, perhaps walk into the Chasm (Angkerle Creek bed). Visit the Ochre Pits and Glen Helen Gorge (semi permanent waterhole) before your scrumptious sit down lunch at Ormiston Gorge and waterhole, with time to enjoy the refreshing waterhole (perhaps have a well deserved swim). On our return drive to Alice Springs, we stop at Ellery Creek Big Hole (optional short walk to the cool waterhole, with the chance to swim in the summer months).

Day 4 – Palm Valley 4WD Luxury Coach Tour

Palm Valley is well named. The contrast of the magnificent green palm trees against the red ochre earth and blue sky is a sight to be seen. The desert oasis of Palm Valley is the only place in Central Australia where Livistona palms survive from the red centre's tropical rainforest past. Discover a hidden oasis of ancient greenery amidst the rugged beauty of Australia's Red Centre as we venture to Palm Valley on a true off-road adventure. Marvel at the prehistoric trees and palms as we journey into another world - a pilgrimage into the heart of Australia's natural wonders.

Today we take a luxury 4WD vehicle to the heart of the outback on an adventure to discover this amazing area. We head west on Larapinta Drive out of Alice Springs, travel alongside the ochre coloured West MacDonnells, cross vast open outback plains on Namatjira Drive, into the Aboriginal homelands of the beautiful Arrernte people and then stop to visit Hermannsburg (an 1870's Lutheran mission). Wander through historic buildings, the Hermannsburg Museum and Art Gallery and learn the reality of Aboriginal history in this region. Enjoy morning tea at Hermannsburg. Head off-road and onto the dry bed of the Finke River, follow the riverbed to Finke Gorge National Park. After a stop at The Amphitheatre to take in the spectacular views over the Finke valley, we 4WD further into the gorge to Palm Valley. Walk on the dry river bed with its amazing Livistona palms and cycads (palm and fern like plants that are either all male or all female), walk and along the valley rim with stunning views over Palm Valley. Here you’ll have the opportunity to complete the enchanting River Walk and immerse yourself in this desert oasis. Next, it’s on to magnificent Cycad Gorge for a delicious Bushman’s lunch in these spectacular surroundings. Witness the changing colours of the West MacDonnells in the afternoon light. Head back into Alice Springs onboard your luxury custom-built 4WD (four wheel drive) coach. Walks are optional - hats, sunscreen, sturdy walking shoes and bottled water are required when participating.

Day 5 – Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Uluru, the sacred monolith at the heart of Australia's Red Centre, is a place of spiritual reverence and natural wonder. Surrounded by an endless expanse of ochre sands, Uluru rises majestically from the ancient earth, its vibrant hues transforming with the shifting sunlight. Each day, the breathtaking spectacle of sunrise and sunset cast a fiery glow upon the rock. Here, you'll connect with the profound spirituality of the Anangu people, the traditional custodians of this land. Amidst the vastness of the landscapes, a unique sense of solitude and inspiration abounds, inviting a deep appreciation for the timeless beauty of the Australian outback.

This morning we set off from Alice Springs, venturing into the rugged, untamed beauty of the Red Centre’s vast desert landscapes. We pass through “The Gap” in the stunning MacDonnell Ranges - the ancient, weathered grandeur standing as silent witnesses to eons of time - and learn about some unique Australian desert flora and fauna such as the Perentie, the Thorny Devil and the Red Kangaroo. Stop at a quintessential outback roadhouse and view Atila (Mt. Conner). Arrive at your accommodation in Yulara where we prepare ourselves for the awe-inspiring Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

This afternoon, we visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre - explore the galleries or perhaps see local Aboriginal Artists at work - before embarking on an exhilarating drive around the base of Uluru. At the base of Uluru we listen to Aboriginal Tjukurpa (creation) stories that breathe life into this giant formation. Feel the ancient spirit of the land come alive as our guide leads us on a fascinating walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole, interpreting the meaning of the ancient Rock Art and sacred sites along the way.

This evening, experience the magic of an Uluru sunset. Listen to stories and insights as the majestic outline of Uluru emerges from the sand dunes. Find your own tranquil space to witness the breathtaking spectacle as day melds into twilight, and the vibrant hues of Uluru transform beneath the suns afternoon rays. Day 6 – Uluru (Ayers Rock) & Kata Tjuta (Olgas)

The ochre sandstone domes that make up Kata Tjuta are an incredible sight and many visitors find them even more enchanting and captivating than the better known Uluru, at sunrise and sunset these domes take on a magical appearance as they change to deep red hues, viewing areas offer sensational panoramic views of the domes and surrounding area.

This morning we rise early to witness a magical sunrise over Uluru (Ayers Rock). As the day’s first rays of light illuminate the desert, witness the landscape's breathtaking transformation as the enchantment of Uluru comes to life in a kaleidoscope of rich desert shades. With the Red Centre now bathed in the soft, golden embrace of a new day, we continue towards the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta (Olgas). We pause to bask in the breathtaking panorama that extends before us on the southern side of Kata Tjuta and then immerse ourselves in the captivating presence of Walpa Gorge. Meander along the path which winds through the gorge and creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta – a moving experience.

Day 7 – Explore Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Today, enjoy a free day to discover the delights of Uluru and the Red Centre at your own pace.

Perhaps spend today using your included Uluru activities like the Guided Garden Walk, Bush Foods experience, astrology session, Indigenous led Bush Yarns experience or take the Gallery of Central Australia tour. You can also explore more of the Uluru and Kata Tjuta National Park or make relaxing use of the resort facilities.

Set out on a celestial journey with a special screening of awe-inspiring astronomy documentary "Capturing the Cosmos", narrated by the iconic Geoffrey Rush. Engage in a Q&A session led by the resident Astronomy Guide. Be sure to gaze towards the heavens this evening with newfound wisdom and wonder.

Maybe also embark on an immersive journey into the heart of Aboriginal culture with a Bush Yarns experience. Guided by experienced Aboriginal storytellers, delve deep into the rich tapestry of legends and lore that have been passed down through generations.
