DAY 1 Welcome to Adelaide

As you arrive into Adelaide you can feel the history and culture of 'The City of Churches'. You will be personally met at the airport by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred to your hotel. You can relax and use the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around the neighbourhood and central Adelaide.

DAY 2 Adelaide Highlights with Hahndorf & McLaren Vale

Adelaide is famous for stylish architecture, beautiful parklands, boutique shopping, cafe strips, sandy swimming beaches, fabulous arts events, festivals, nightlife, and sandstone cottages with sweeping gardens. The diverse cultural mix of its population guarantees that the food is sensational. Adelaide is Australia's wine capital and lies between rolling hills to the east and beautiful sandy beaches to the west, with world class vineyards within easy reach. Visit Hahndorf, the beautiful Lutheran settlement dating back to 1838, with its arts, crafts, cottage industry shops, pubs, traditional small goods and bakeries that evoke the tastes and smells of Bavaria, before indulging in world class wines, rolling vineyards and the relaxed gourmet charm of McLaren Vale.

Your friendly driver will pick you up in the premium air-conditioned coach before sharing experiences, fascinating facts and enchanting stories in the onboard full commentary throughout the day. This morning we see Victoria Square (heart of Adelaide City), Gouger Street (home to the Adelaide Central Market & restaurant cafe strip), King William Street's famous Ceremonial Boulevard. Travel over the River Torrens with its delightful garden banks, see Parliament House, State Library, State Art Gallery, Trinity Church (Adelaide's oldest church), and fashionable Hutt Street. See Beehive Corner at Rundle Mall, Adelaide Oval (one of Australia's most notable cricket grounds and houses the Bradman collection), the quaint suburbs of historic North Adelaide and St Peter's Cathedral. Stand at the statue of Colonel William Light and imagine him designing the city of Adelaide way back in 1836.

We then pause at the Mount Lofty lookout for spectacular views over the City of Adelaide. From here, the coach will deliver you to whimsical Hahndorf (Australia's oldest German settlement), where you will enjoy free time to stroll under the Elm trees along Hahndorf's main street, see quaint cottages, craft shops, galleries and tea rooms and perhaps visit one of the historic pubs where you can sample some German beers.

This afternoon, the iconic wine region of McLaren Vale awaits as we sit back, relax and enjoy an incredibly scenic drive through the Adelaide Hills. Our first tasting is at the beautiful Chapel Hill Winery, where sweeping vineyard views set the scene for a thoughtfully curated cellar-door experience, inviting us to savour exceptional wines while soaking up the character of this celebrated region. As the journey continues through McLaren Vale, there are opportunities to capture rolling vineyards and iconic landscapes before arriving at Haselgrove Wines. Here, enjoy a relaxed yet structured tasting of their finest wines, with the option to indulge in a locally inspired cheeseboard to perfectly complement your selection.

Our magical day concludes with a scenic return towards Adelaide, tracing the coastline as sparkling ocean views unfold, before arriving in the charming seaside suburb of Glenelg, where the sea air and relaxed coastal atmosphere provide a delightful finale to a memorable day. From here you may choose to return to Adelaide or linger a little longer, soaking up the sea air, enjoying a breathtaking sunset, and returning at your leisure to the city. *Trams run from Glenelg to Adelaide every 20 minutes.

DAY 3 Barossa Valley with Special Lunch

Head to the Adelaide Hills to explore one of Australia’s best and most famous wine-producing regions – the Barossa Valley. Regarded as one of the finest wine regions in the world, the Barossa is home to Australia's most expensive wine, Penfolds Grange. Enjoy your delicious Special Lunch at a renowned winery restaurant, including tastings, winemaking tour and wine education. Leaving Adelaide, we begin our enchanting journey northwards to the world-renowned Barossa wine region. Watch as the scenery transforms before your eyes as we meander our way through the bucolic vineyards of South Australia’s premium wine district. With a warm welcome and the joyful motto, The Taste of Happiness, Kies Family Wines sets the tone for a truly special day. Enjoy an exclusive tasting experience within their impressive winemaking facility. Surrounded by towering wine vats affectionately named after family members, we sample an indulgent selection of award-winning wines in a setting that feels both personal and unforgettable.

From here our journey continues to the historic country town of Tanunda, with time to stroll along the charming main street, browse local boutiques, or relax with a coffee while soaking up the leisurely pace and character of the Barossa.

The iconic Turkey Flat Vineyards is our next stop - a bucolic and proudly family-owned estate with a history dating back to 1847. Here, enjoy a guided tasting before settling in for a superb regional platter lunch, featuring premium local meats, fresh breads, cheeses, pâté, and an array of locally sourced delights, the perfect accompaniment to a day of wine discovery.

Your Barossa experience continues as we delight in the panoramic views over the Barossa Valley from Mengler's Hill lookout before making our way to the stunning Rosenvale Vineyards - a true hidden gem owned and operated by the sixth-generation Rosenzweig family. DAY 4 Murray Riverboat with Special Lunch

Cruise along the mighty Murray River in a purpose-built boutique riverboat and enjoy a Special Two Course Lunch onboard. Discover the magic of the Murray aboard this intimate vessel, evoking the style of the legendary Mississippi river cruisers and the original paddle steamers that shaped the successful development of this part of the Murray. Learn the rich history of one of the world's greatest river systems and the key town of Mannum. Travel by luxury coach through rolling hills and rural land now rich in green vineyards and golden citrus orchards thanks to the Murray, the arid pasture region of the Murraylands. Arrive at Mannum (birthplace of the River Murray paddle-steamers), cruise the broad waters of the Murray onboard your elegant heritage-style riverboat, whilst marvelling at the stark cliffs, river red gums and willows that grace the waters of the mighty Murray. Spot for galahs, cockatoos and pelicans. Delight in your Special Lunch, a delicious two course lunch served onboard as you cruise the majestic Murray. As we journey back to Adelaide, let the enchanting Adelaide Hills embrace your senses. Stop at Melba's Chocolate Factory, where you have the opportunity to indulge in a delightful afternoon tea. Alternatively, you can explore Woodside Cheese Wrights - a haven of artisanal creations.

DAY 5 Victor Harbor & the Fleurieu Peninsula

The Fleurieu Peninsula is a holiday playground of wineries, seaside towns and lakes whose population trebles during holiday periods. The splendid seaside resort township of Victor Harbor is where the mouth of the massive Murray River finally meets the ocean. The old paddle-steamer port of Goolwa is on Lake Alexandrina, near the Murray Mouth and is joined by a bridge to Hindmarsh Island.

Tour through the Mt Lofty Ranges with its many quaint villages and panoramic views. Stop at historic Strathalbyn on the Angas River - a delightful town adorned with antique stores, markets, bakeries, and cafes - the perfect place to find some indulgent morning tea. Pass through the Currency Creek wine region on route to the river Port of Goolwa (where the Murray River meets the lakes and sea) to enjoy a brief tour around the wharf, barrage and beach areas, before travelling on to Port Elliot, Middleton and Victor Harbor. Enjoy some free time in Victor Harbor to explore this seaside gem. Perhaps grab some lunch, explore the town, ride a horse drawn tram across the causeway to Granite Island or take a Seal Island Cruise.

Next, surrender to the enchantment of spellbinding Horseshoe Bay, Encounter Bay and Rosetta Head. Keep your eyes peeled for The Bluff, a majestic sentinel that watches over the charming township of Victor Harbor. Our path then leads us through the renowned wine country of McLaren Vale where vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see. Before we return to Adelaide, we'll be graced by some of the most picturesque southern metropolitan beaches - each a haven of natural beauty and tranquillity, where the waves kiss the shore and the sun paints the sky in hues of gold and crimson.
