A suburb of the capital city of Perth in Western Australia, Belmont is situated on the southern bank of the Swan River, some 6kms east of Perths central business district.

Located amidst the Burswood Entertainment Complex and two horse racing tracks, Belmont Racecourse and Ascot Racecourse, Belmont is ideally positioned for a great night out. The vibrant Perth city centre is only a short drive away, offering great shopping, dining and entertainment. For a step back in time or a relaxing picnic by the river, a visit to the historic Tranby House is a must do. Situated just north of Belmont, the old farmers cottage is one of the oldest surviving buildings from the early Swan River Colony settlement.

Belmont History

Part of a land grant assigned to Captain Francis Henry Byrne in 1831, was believed to have been named Belmont for Byrne's estate of the same name in England. In 1882, the land was purchased by Shepherd Smith of Sydney who subdivided it in 1897 to1898. The suburb was known as known as Belmont Park until it was renamed in 1968.

Situated in the City of Belmont, the western boundary is primarily industrial and commercial while the east and north are more residential, housing most of Belmonts 5078 souls.
