Day 1 Broome

Enjoy an afternoon at your own leisure in one of Western Australias premier holiday spots, Broome. In the evening, enjoy a welcome home drink with your fellow travellers and Tour Director.

Day 2 Broome

Today is at leisure to explore this tropical hideaway. Enjoy a relaxing stroll along the 22 kilometres of pristine sand and swim in the turquoise blue water that is Cable Beach.

Wander through Chinatown or shop for pearls. This evening sit back, relax and watch the spectacular sunset over the Indian Ocean. Or you may like to take a camel ride along Cable Beach.

Day 3 Broome to Fitzroy Crossing

Discover the Port of Derby, the oldest established town in the Kimberley, located at the base of King Sound.

Visit the famous Prison Boab Tree, believed to be around 1,500 years old and used by the first police as an overnight holding cell. Travel through some of Australia's biggest pastoral properties to the remote township of Fitzroy Crossing created by the early settlers to ford the mighty Fitzroy River.

Day 4 Fitzroy Crossing to Halls Creek

This morning cruise through Geikie Gorge. During the wet season, the Fitzroy River rises over 16 metres, staining the limestone walls of the gorge and flooding the national park with seven metres of water.

In the dry season, the river transforms itself into a quiet stream strung beneath the towering cliffs of the Devonian Reef.

Watch for freshwater crocodile, fruit bats and wallabies as the 30 metre high walls of the gorge tower above us.

Travel to Halls Creek, situated on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, at the doorstep of Purnululu National Park. This afternoon you will have the opportunity to meet and talk with some local indigenous artists.

Day 5 Halls Creek to El Questro

Journey north and enter the Argyle mining lease. A local guide will join us on a tour of Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine, the world's largest diamond mine, which produces one quarter of the world's diamonds annually.

Continue towards the stunning El Questro Wilderness Park which is made up of one million acres of diverse unspoilt land in the heart of the Kimberley.

Day 6 El Questro

Cruise through Chamberlain Gorge, a 3km long fresh waterhole with diverse tropical flora and fauna, surrounded by towering rock escarpments. It is not unusual to see crocodiles here so keep your eyes peeled.

You have the opportunity to join a hike into spectacular Emma Gorge where the contrast of a tranquil waterfall against the fiery red terrain will leave you inspired.

Day 7 El Questro to Kununurra

Travel along the Gibb River Road to Parry Lagoon Nature Reserve, a haven for birdlife in this region. Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout for sensational views over the Cambridge Gulf.

Visit Warriu Park to see the Dreamtime Statues and rock art mural. Visit the historic Durack Homestead, which was faithfully reconstructed to become a pioneer museum.

Then cruise along the Ord River from Lake Argyle to Kununurra. This permanent water supply has formed wetland areas, which have become havens for myriads of birds and a variety of marsupials that inhabit the islands in the lake.

Day 8 Kununurra

After breakfast, tour Kununurra, which is the hub of local industry for agriculture, tourism and mining in the east Kimberley.

See the Ord River Irrigation Scheme and Mirima (Hidden Valley) National Park, which features 300 million year old sandstone cliffs, often referred to as the 'mini Bungles'. Home to a wide variety of wildlife including dingoes, echidna and many reptiles.

The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife including many species of birds, dingoes and echidna and all manner of reptiles.

Tonight You are invited by the Dessert family to dinner at the Hoochery Rum Distillery. Enjoy a taste of rum and hear about life in the Ord.

Day 9 Kununurra to Katherine

Travelling through vast countryside and outback cattle stations, the isolation and sparseness of the land is both beautiful and amazing as you make your way towards Katherine in the Northern Territory.

Day 10 Katherine to Darwin

Join a boat cruise through the stunning Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park. Its towering cliff faces and placid waters are a 23 million year old creation and one of the most spectacular sights of the Top End.

Stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery, dedicated to recognise wartime sacrifices made by the people of the Top End, then soak up the atmosphere of tropical Darwin on a sightseeing tour.

Day 11 Darwin

Enjoy a day at your own leisure in the capital, Darwin. Stroll about the masterpieces at the Museum and Art Gallery, tour the old Fannie Bay Gaol, or take a picnic to the George Brown Botanic Gardens for some gentle tranquillity.

Day 12 Darwin to Kakadu

Travel into the famous Kakadu National Park where a visit to Nourlangie Rock unveils ancient Aboriginal art thought to be up to 20,000 years old.

Embark on a boat cruise down the Yellow Water Billabong with a chance to see the fearsome crocodiles that inhabit Kakadus rivers. Later visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre.

Day 13 Kakadu to Darwin

Join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River. You have been granted special permission of the local people to go ashore into Arnhem Land.

Next stop is Ubirr, with a short walk to view rock art. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre before returning to Darwin.

Your tour concludes this morning after breakfast. You will be transferred to Darwin Airport to connect with your onward flight.
