Island Delight Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Brisbane to Fraser Island

Enjoy an orientation tour of the city and learn about opals with an Opal Demonstration.

Journey north along the Sunshine Coast to Hervey Bay for the ferry crossing to Fraser Island. Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and enjoys a World Heritage Listing.

Fraser island is a place of exceptional beauty, with its long uninterrupted white beaches flanked by strikingly coloured sand cliffs, and over 100 freshwater lakes. Ancient rainforests grow in sand along the banks of fast-flowing, crystal-clear creeks.

Relax in the evening and enjoy a welcome drink with your tour director and other travelling companions.

Overnight: Fraser Island: Kingfisher Bay Resort & Village

Day 2 Fraser Island

Experience Fraser Island during a half day 4WD tour. Marvel at the majestic rainforest at Central Station; originally established as a forestry camp when there was logging on Fraser Island.

Wander along the short boardwalk around Wanggoolba Creek and through the rainforest.

Visit Lake McKenzie, a beautiful fresh water lake surrounded by white sandy beaches. The awe-inspiring beauty of Lake McKenzie makes it probably the most visited natural site on the island.

Lake McKenzie is a 'perched' lake; meaning it contains only rainwater, no groundwater, is not fed by streams and does not flow to the ocean. The sand here is pure, white silica and is not only stunning to look at but feels wonderfully soft to walk on.

Overnight: Fraser Island: Kingfisher Bay Resort & Village

Day 3 Yeppoon

Return to the mainland, and stop at Langmorn Station, a fully operational cattle station where you will enjoy afternoon tea at the homestead, a restored Queenslander built in 1873.

Cross the Tropic of Capricorn and continue to the coastal resort of Yeppoon. Yeppoon is famous for it's long stretches of beautiful beaches and its close location to the Keppel group of islands.Dine out in the evening, on crocodile of course, at the Koorana Crocodile Farm.

Home to around 3,000 crocodiles, your guide will take you on a spotlight tour, where a visit to the pens will reveal crocodiles as small as 150 grams and as large as 750 kilograms!

Overnight: Yeppoon: Rydges Capricorn

Day 4 Brampton Island

Travel north through Mackay, Australia's sugar capital, before continuing to Airlie Beach, a gateway to the Whitsunday Islands.

At Airlie Beach we take a ferry across to Daydream Island, in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.

Daydream Island is situated just off the coast of Queensland, and is part of the famous Whitsundays group. It features three beautiful beaches, lush green flora and a pleasant climate.

Enjoy dinner with your fellow travellers at the Bluewater Restaurant.
Overnight: Daydream Island Resort & Spa: Ocean Balcony Rooms

Day 5 Daydream Island

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Daydream Island, located in the beautiful Whitsundays. There are sailboarding and catamaran classes.

You have the opportunity to take a rainforest walk, play beach volleyball, tennis, water polo or you could go snorkelling or kayaking.

Perhaps just laze by one of the pools or on a beach or replenish your body and soul at the Rejuvenation Spa.

Overnight: Daydream Island Resort & Spa; Ocean Balcony Rooms

Day 6 Townsville

Head north to the tropical city of Townsville. This afternoon is free for you to relax at the hotel.

Or perhaps take a stroll along The Strand, Townsville's beachfront promenade, for a magnificent view of the Port of Townsville and Magnetic Island.

Townsville has a population of around 110 000 and is seen as The Tropical Capital of North Queensland. Townsville boasts an average of 300 days of sunshine each year, offers a relaxed lifestyle and a diversity of attractions.

You can walk along the jetty or watch the world go by in one of the cafes.

Overnight: Townsville: Holiday Inn

Day 7 Atherton Tablelands

Climb the high tropical plateau known as the Atherton Tablelands, where lush rainforests, waterfalls and lakes abound.

Visit Millaa Millaa Falls and the famous Curtain Fig Tree. Millaa Millaa is an Aboriginal word meaning plenty of water or waterfall; these falls are 18 metres high and are famous for their incredible beauty.

Enjoy a guided cruise on the serene crater of the 10 000 year old freshwater Lake Barrine, before making your way to Port Douglas.

Overnight: Port Douglas: Rydges, Sabaya Resort

Day 8 Port Douglas

Take advantage of a full free day in Port Douglas.

There is an opportunity to explore the World Heritage rainforest, enjoy a walk along Four Mile Beach, or just sit back and relax by the pool.

Overnight: Port Douglas: Rydges, Sabaya Resort

Day 9 Great Barrier Reef

Join the Quicksilver catamaran and cruise out to the Great Barrier Reef.

Enjoy a reef education presentation and view the spectacular coral and tropical fish from the underwater observatory and the semi-submersible craft.

There is the opportunity to go snorkelling and view this natural living wonder up-close (equipment provided).

Enjoy a delicious tropical buffet lunch before we return to Port Douglas and travel on to Cairns.

Overnight: Novotel Oasis Cairns

Day 10 Kuranda

Board the Kuranda train for a historic journey taking you through the scenic countryside behind Cairns.

Arrive at the cultural rainforest village of Kuranda with time to wander through the various stalls of the colourful Kuranda Markets.

Board the Skyrail Cableway that takes you above the canopy of the tropical rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park.

Visit the famous Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park and experience the history, creative and dance theatres where the legends of the Dreamtime are brought to life.

Overnight: Novotel Oasis Cairns

Day 11 Cairns

You will be transferred to Cairns Airport for your onward flight.
