Day 1 Cairns to Chillagoe
Leave the coast and travel towards the outback via the Gillies Range � the windiest road in Australia.
Travel through the Atherton Tablelands and visit the Curtain Fig Tree, before reaching Herberton.
Venture off road to the historic towns of Watsonville, Irvinebank and Emuford, before arriving at the 19th century mining town of Chillagoe.

Day 2 Chillagoe to Mareeba Wetlands
Visit the impressive cave system of Chillagoe and undertake a short sightseeing town tour.
Travel over the Wheelbarrow Way to arrive at the Mareeba Wetlands, which protects more that 2000 hectares of savannahs and wetlands and provides a sanctuary for much of tropical Australias flora, fauna and cultural heritage.
Enjoy an afternoon cruise on Clancys Lagoon, then travel into the heart of the reserve for wildlife viewing, bird watching and some billy tea.

Day 3 Mareeba Wetlands to Cairns

Visit the Bloomfield Falls and explore the splendour of the Cape Tribulation National Park � where the rainforest meets the reef.

Day 7 Daintree National Park to Cairns
Enjoy the views over the deep blue sea and the densely wooded forest.
Learn about the ecology and history if the nearby mangroves during the Marrdja Walk.
Cross the Daintree River with a cable ferry before a river cruise where you can look for saltwater crocodiles, azure kingfishers, and pythons.
Visit the Mossman Gorge, formed by the Mossman River, and the exclusive Port Douglas, before arriving in Cairns in the late afternoon.
