Day 1 Cairns to Chillagoe

Leave the coast and travel towards the outback via the Gillies Range � the windiest road in Australia.

Travel through the Atherton Tablelands and visit the Curtain Fig Tree, before reaching Herberton.

Venture off road to the historic towns of Watsonville, Irvinebank and Emuford, before arriving at the 19th century mining town of Chillagoe.

Take a short walk to Balancing Rock, a unique aspect of this remarkable outback town.

Day 2 Chillagoe to Mareeba Wetlands

Visit the impressive cave system of Chillagoe and undertake a short sightseeing town tour.

Travel over the Wheelbarrow Way to arrive at the Mareeba Wetlands, which protects more that 2000 hectares of savannahs and wetlands and provides a sanctuary for much of tropical Australias flora, fauna and cultural heritage.

Enjoy an afternoon cruise on Clancys Lagoon, then travel into the heart of the reserve for wildlife viewing, bird watching and some billy tea.

Day 3 Mareeba Wetlands to Cairns

Wake up to the sounds of the Blue-winged Kookaburra and Brolga.

Find out about the geology and history of the area on a guided walk.Return to Cairns via Kuranda and the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway or alternatively the Scenic Railway.

Start an unforgettable day by travelling to Upolo Cay � a small sand cay in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef.

Day 5 Great Barrier Reef to Cooktown

From the Northern Beaches, travel along the Marlin Coast, one of the most scenic routes in the world.

Turn off towards the outback and cross the Palmer River where Australias biggest gold rush originated in 1872.

View the sandstone escarpments around Laura that reveal beautiful Aboriginal rock paintings.

Day 6 Cooktown to Daintree National Park

Experience the historic Cooktown and visit the Lions Den � Queenslands oldest pub.

Travel along the adventurous Bloomfield Track where, during the wet season, there are numerous creeks that can cause the track to be impassable to all but 4WD vehicles.

Visit the Bloomfield Falls and explore the splendour of the Cape Tribulation National Park � where the rainforest meets the reef.

Explore the beauty of this unique biosphere during a walk through the oldest rainforest in the world.

Day 7 Daintree National Park to Cairns

Enjoy the views over the deep blue sea and the densely wooded forest.

Learn about the ecology and history if the nearby mangroves during the Marrdja Walk.

Cross the Daintree River with a cable ferry before a river cruise where you can look for saltwater crocodiles, azure kingfishers, and pythons.

Visit the Mossman Gorge, formed by the Mossman River, and the exclusive Port Douglas, before arriving in Cairns in the late afternoon.
