Hervey Bay Tourism & Travel
Hervey Bay Australia
Protected by 123 kilometre, 76.9 mile long Fraser Island, Hervey Bay, pronounced Harvey, which includes the coastline between Bundaberg and Maryborough, offers safe, calm beaches ideal for family holidays.
Hervey Bay Whale Migration
Humpback whales visit Hervey Bay between early August and mid October on their annual migration.
On a whale watching cruise you may see the 16 metre, 17.5 yard long whales as they breach, which means the whales make spectacular, crashing leaps out of the water while they expel jets of spray as they exhale.
The whales have also been known to swim directly under boats and raise their heads out of the water.
Hervey Bay Water Activities
Hervey Bay township, on Badtjala country, is a thriving seaside town with plenty of family activities.
The sandy straights between Fraser Island and the Hervey Bay coastline create ideal conditions for sailing. Fishing for tailor in season in Hervey Bay is legendary. In the mangrove channels of the Great Sandy Straight there are a large variety of estuary species.
