DAY 1 Fly to Adelaide

Fly to Adelaide and begin your Murray River adventure. You will be personally met at the airport by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred from the airport to your hotel.

DAY 2 Adelaide City Tour

Adelaide is famous for stylish architecture, beautiful parklands, boutique shopping, cafe strips, sandy swimming beaches, fabulous arts events, festivals, nightlife, and sandstone cottages with sweeping gardens. The diverse cultural mix of its one million population guarantees that the food is sensational. Adelaide is Australia's wine capital and lies between rolling hills to the east and beautiful sandy beaches to the west, with world class vineyards within easy reach.

Your friendly driver will pick you up in the comfortable air-conditioned luxury coach before sharing experiences, fascinating facts and enchanting stories in the on-board full commentary throughout the morning. Today see Victoria Square (heart of Adelaide city), Gouger Street (restaurant cafe strip), King William Street's famous boulevard, The Terraces (4 terraces that separate the city from its greenbelts) and Adelaide's magnificent parks, gardens and greenbelts. See River Torrens with its delightful garden banks, Parliament House, State Library, Trinity Church (Adelaide's oldest church), fashionable Hutt Street and stop at Haigh's Chocolates to enjoy complimentary tea or coffee accompanied by fine Haigh's chocolates (Haigh's unavailable on Sundays). See Beehive Corner at Rundle Mall, Adelaide Oval (one of Australia's most notable cricket grounds and houses the Bradman collection), the quaint suburbs of North Adelaide; O'Connell Street (restaurants and trendy shops), St Peter's Cathedral, Colonel Light's Lookout on Montefiore Hill (spectacular views over Adelaide).

DAY 3 Explore Adelaide

Spend the day taking in the sights and surrounds of Adelaide. Visit the famous Adelaide Hills or spend the day exploring the churches, parks and famous museums and galleries of Adelaide. 

Alternatively, you can visit the seaside town of Glenelg, famous for its beaches and many tourist attractions. 

The choice is yours.

DAY 4 Board the Murray Princess and Cruise to Caurnamont

This afternoon get transferred to Mannum to begin your 8 day Murray Princess Murralyands and Wildlife Cruise. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner as you cruise north towards Caurnamont. Look for nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank such as kangaroos, hairy-nosed wombats, tortoises and many other species as you enjoy music from your onboard entertainer and cruise under floodlight to your overnight mooring at Caurnamont.

Transfer to Mannum, Welcome Dinner, Onboard Entertainment, Overnight Accommodation Onboard the P.S. Murray Princess. 

DAY 5 Cruise from Caurnamont to Blanchetown

Take in the spectacular Murray River scenery at daybreak and watch for the prolific birdlife of the area including swans, pelicans and wrens. Enjoy a leisurely morning as you continue cruising north towards Blanchetown through one of the 13 locks that maintain the flow and water levels of the Murray River.

Arrive at your overnight mooring of Blanchetown this afternoon. As the sun sets, enjoy a guided tour of Burk Salter Wines vineyards and enjoy a wine tasting at the beautiful cellar door that is fitted out with red gum bars. Later enjoy canapés and a two course dinner.

DAY 6 Cruise from Blanchetown to Sunnydale

After breakfast cruise to Swan Reach, now home to native flower and fruit growers, the town was first settled in the 1850’s and was the largest of five sheep and cattle stations in the area. 

Enjoy a guided walking tour of the township and visit the Swan Reach Museum. Cruise south towards Sunnydale after and take in the tranquillity of the area as you reach your overnight mooring. On arrival at Sunnydale, watch the Woolshed Show, an insight into typical Australian Woolshed history. Later, visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where you can see some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals, before enjoying a special barbecue dinner cooked and served on the banks of the Murray River. After dinner you may choose to take an optional nocturnal tour to look for wildlife.

DAY 7 Cruise from Sunnydale to Younghusband

This morning, enjoy an early morning bush walk with the captain or you may choose to experience an optional Bush Tucker Breakfast. Cruise downriver to Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve while taking in views of the spectacular cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. 

Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve is one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites and home to the Nganguraku people who have lived there for at least 5000 years. Take a guided tour along the boardwalk to view ancient rock carvings and learn about the Aboriginal history of the area.

Later, return to the P.S. Murray Princess and continue cruising south to your overnight mooring, Younghusband. Enjoy a speedboat ride along the way if you wish. Tonight enjoy a spectacular Captain’s Buffet Dinner. You have the opportunity to dress up and enjoy a dance if you wish!

DAY 8 Visit the Barossa Valley & Cruise to Mundurra

Leave Younghusband and cruise back to Mannum. After breakfast, tour to the Barossa Valley, Australia’s most famous wine region. Visit two premium wineries and enjoy a winery lunch before returning to the P.S. Murray Princess and cruising to your overnight mooring of Mundurra.

DAY 9 Visit Murray Bridge & Cruise to Salt Bush Flat

Today visit Murray Bridge, the township built at the site of the first bridge to cross the Murray River. After breakfast join a guided tour of the historic landmarks and attractions of the town or you may choose to take an optional wildlife tour of Monarto Zoo.

Continue cruising upriver and enjoy a short stop in Mannum for a visit to the Mannum Dock Museum. Continue cruising to your overnight mooring at Salt Bush Flat. You will have the opportunity to inspect the wheelhouse with the Captain along the way and after dinner, enjoy the onboard entertainment from the crew.

Breakfast, Murray Bridge Guided Tour, Optional Monarto Zoo Tour, Lunch, Mannum Dock Museum, Dinner, Overnight Accommodation Onboard the P.S. Murray Princess.

DAY 10 Cruise to Piggy Flat / Coolcha

Enjoy a guided nature walk this morning where you can learn about the local flora and fauna before departing for the gorges and cliffs of the upper river. Enjoy a special presentation in the Sturt Dining Room about the local food and wine produced in the region. 

After Fromms Landing, turn around and cruise back south to River View Lodge at Piggy Flat / Coolcha. Enjoy a small group, personalised wildlife tour on your discovery vessel to spot for the amazing birdlife of the region in the maze of the river.

This afternoon, enjoy a game of bocce or fishing challenges before joining the Captain and Officers for pre-dinner drinks and the Captain’s Dinner and Dance.

DAY 11 Return to Mannum & Fly Home
