DAY 1 Fly to Kununurra

Fly to Kununurra and make your way to your Kununurra hotel to begin your journey.

Meet and Greet Personalised Arrival Transfer, Overnight Kununurra Accommodation.

DAY 2 Board The Great Escape

Be picked up from your Kununurra hotel and transferred to Great Escape for the start of your 7 day adventure cruising the waters of the awesome Kimberley with your knowledgeable crew welcoming you aboard with canapes and drinks around 5:00pm before setting off to cruise the amazing Berkeley River. Enjoy dinner served when the cruise has begun, then settle into your cabin, familiarize yourself with the boat, and relax for the evening.

DAY 3 Berkley River

Discover the Berkeley River, a stunning, wide river system teeming with freshwater pools, waterfalls, pockets of rainforest and abundant wildlife activity. A wide variety of soft adventures are optional, including nature walks and swimming in fresh water pools. You will have the opportunity to see many crocodiles, eagles and occasionally rock wallabies. At the top end of the Berkeley River where the fresh water meets the salt water, there are freshwater swimming holes with rapids and plenty of opportunities for estuary fishing particularly Barramundi. After enjoying a picnic lunch, in the afternoon the vessel will cruise back down the river and anchor just outside the mouth for the late afternoon.

DAY 4 Atlantis Bay and Whiskey Creek

Enjoy your sumptuous breakfast cruising to the secluded Atlantis Bay. A secluded spot rarely visited due to the prevailing easterly winds from June to August. Here you will go ashore for a quick walk to a delightful waterhole, or perhaps take a leisurely stroll along the remote beach before cruising on to Cape Whiskey and Whiskey Creek where you can go fishing on the low tide. In the afternoon, cruise to the awesome King George River to set anchor for the night and enjoy a delicious dinner.

DAY 5 King George Falls

Breakfast is taken with ancient towering gorges as the scenery, as you cruise the awesome King George River, then we cruise close up to the truly astounding waterfall. The amazing waterfalls cascade onto the bow of the boat here, where water plunges over an ancient sandstone cliff into the tidal waters, Western Australia’s highest twin waterfalls. The rest of the day you can experience trekking, exploring and the magnificent scenery the first of the Kimberley’s “Big” rivers has to offer.

DAY 6 Drysdale River

Spend the morning on a fishing excursion to catch the daily buffet lunch, perhaps some giant trevally, mackerel, tuna or queenfish and maybe even a bluebone, mangrove jack, or fingermark or as well. Rejuvenate yourself for the rest of the day with a swim then trek to the mysterious Bradshaw ancient Indigenous rock art galleries before returning to relish a fresh lunch, cruising to explore the relic of a World War II DC3 plane in the cove. Enjoy the evening discovering more as you cruise around Cape Bougainville to the mighty Mitchell River.

DAY 7 Mitchell River

This wide estuarine Mitchell River is great for hunting for the delicious Kimberley barramundi. Drop some mud crab pots before lunch is served then you will cruise on to Surveyors Creek, half way along the Mitchell River, and a sweet little Kimberley gorge with a huge swimming hole waiting to cool you down. Enjoy your last night with your like-minded adventurers, at anchor, on the amazingly remote Mitchell River.

DAY 8 Arrive Mitchell Falls and Fly Home

The highlight of the day is your transfer from the boat to Mitchell airstrip in a helicopter over the picturesque Mitchell Falls, giving you a magnificent bird’s eye view of this remote wilderness. Here you will be greeted for another flying adventure by a fixed-wing aircraft that will fly you back to Kununurra airport for your flight home.
