Day 4 Murray Riverboat with Special Lunch
Cruise along the mighty Murray River in a fully restored 100 year old paddle-steamer and enjoy a Special Buffet Lunch onboard. Your magnificent 160 ton riverboat is living history. She is one of the world's only steam driven, wood fired, side paddle, heritage paddle-steamers still in operation. Learn the rich history of one of the world's greatest river systems and the key town of Mannum. This historic Lower Murray town is the birthplace of Australia's paddle-steamer, hear the stories from the river-folk and learn how the river breathes life into this rugged region.
Travel by luxury coach through rolling hills and rural land now rich in green vineyards and golden citrus orchards thanks to the Murray, the arid pasture region of the Murraylands. Arrive at Mannum (birthplace of the River Murray paddle-steamers), cruise the broad waters of the Murray onboard your historic paddle-steamer riverboat, enjoy a delightful morning tea on board, whilst marveling at the stark cliffs, river red gums and willows that burden the waters of the Mighty Murray. Spot for galahs, cockatoos and pelicans. Time for your Special Lunch, a delicious buffet lunch served onboard your paddle-steamer as you cruise the majestic Murray. DAY 5 Victor Harbor & McLaren Vale
The Fleurieu Peninsula is a holiday playground of wineries, seaside towns and lakes whose population trebles during holiday periods. The splendid seaside resort township of Victor Harbor is where the mouth of the massive Murray River finally meets the ocean. The internationally respected wine region of McLaren Vale has more than 60 cellar doors and produces amazing Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines. The old paddle-steamer port of Goolwa is on Lake Alexandrina, near the Murray Mouth, and is joined by a bridge to Hindmarsh Island.
Tour through the Mt Lofty Ranges with its many quaint villages and panoramic views. Stop at historic Strathalbyn on the Angas River. See the river Port of Goolwa (where the Murray River meets the lakes and sea), Port Elliot, Horseshoe Bay, Encounter Bay and Victor Harbor. Perhaps ride a horse drawn tram across the causeway to Granite Island. Enjoy some free time to explore Victor Harbor. Then onto McLaren Vale wine region to see the vineyards, leafy olive groves, almond groves and magnificent old stone wineries. Perhaps taste top local wines at Hardys Tintara Cellar Door, sample produce at Medlow Confectionery and sample produce at Almond Train. Take in the views of the picturesque coastal seaside towns, before heading north back to Adelaide to conclude your full day of exploring the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Day 9 Explore Esperance

Day 10 Explore Albany

Day 11 At Sea
The Southern Ocean is also known as the Antarctic Ocean, it's the newest of the world's great oceans and is the fourth largest in size, its cold waters create a unique ecological region rich in marine life and encompass the Ross, Amundsen, Bellingshausen, and Weddell seas and small gulfs and bays off Antarctica.
Take advantage of the Astor's daytime activities and on board facilities as you sail back towards Fremantle. Alternatively, spend your time reading a book or browsing the on board Duty Free stores.

Day 13 Explore Perth and Fremantle

See famous Cottesloe Beach and the Indian Ocean sunset coastline. Tour Fremantle (historic large working port docks, rich convict history, glorious alfresco outdoor dining, marinas, charming heritage sandstone buildings, modern ocean racing yachts, colonial terraced houses, museums and galleries). Day 14 Margaret River, Wineries & Special Lunch
Margaret River combines one of the world's premier wine and food regions with one of the world's best surfing locations. It's Western Australia's popular and high profile holiday playground. Many visual treats are on offer here including the dramatic coastline, calm sandy bays, massive caves, seasonal wildflowers and Busselton Jetty, the Southern Hemisphere's longest jetty. The beautiful Margaret River Wine Region is a taste of paradise for food and wine lovers. Sample world-class wines such as sensational shiraz, exquisite chardonnay and scintillating sauvignon blanc which are produced here in its many picturesque boutique wineries. Culinary gems include irresistible hand-made chocolates and mouth-watering cheeses. Each year Margaret River hosts the world surfing championships.
Today we travel south from Perth deep into the South West of Australia. You will experience the Busselton and Margaret River areas, have a guided tour of Mammoth Cave, see massive Karri trees, explore Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, enjoy a Special Brewery Lunch with craft beer tastings and visit a respected winery for some wine tastings and to learn about local winemaking.
Tour through the southern suburbs of Perth, through the Peel Region and onto Busselton. The Swan River is the perfect spot from which to view the wonderful cityscape of Perth, its northern waters lead to the stunning Swan Valley, Western Australia's world-renowned wine producing region and westward the river leads to the historic and charming city of Fremantle and the azure Indian Ocean.

You are transferred to beautiful Barrack Street Jetty in the heart of the city, see the building work of the massive new riverfront Elizabeth Quay, named in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Set sail on your large stable vessel for today's river cruise. Enjoy spectacular views as you cruise the calm waters between Perth and Fremantle. Day 16 Pinnacles, Lancelin, Wildlife & 4WD
Lying in the Nambung National Park, the Pinnacles are a breathtaking wonder of Mother Nature. These amazing, natural limestone structures hold an exquisite air of mystique and intrigue, especially as the sun's warm hue illuminates the magical stones. Caversham Wildlife Park is set within Whiteman Park with 4000 hectares of magnificent native Western Australian flora and is the ideal place to see animals totally unique to the State, like the famous quokka. The plants and animals in each section represent different regions and you can also learn about WA’s conservation efforts. The popular rock lobster fishing village of Lancelin is set on a large Indian Ocean bay overlooking two islands and is surrounded massive 2km long crisp white sand dunes that attract avid sandboarders. During spring, the Western Australian landscape explodes in a kaleidoscope of colour and beauty as thousands of magnificent wildflowers bloom in a spectacular seasonal show of nature at its most breathtaking.
Today explore Caversham Wildlife Park, discover the amazing natural wonder of the Pinnacles Desert in Nambung National Park, tour a lobster processing and live export facility and experience the famous sand dunes of Lancelin.
You will be picked up this morning from your hotel for your full day tour to the famous Pinnacles. Enjoy a stop at Caversham Wildlife Park to interact with remarkable native animals, wander through the hand-feeding areas and admire WA’s endemic plants and trees. Depart Caversham heading to the laid-back lobster fishing village of Cervantes (pristine white sand beach, turquoise waters teeming with marine life, popular kitesurfing and windsurfing beach) for a stop. Experience a behind the scenes tour of the live processing of Indian Ocean rock lobster, including an overhead walkway where you will stand above 20 tonnes of lobster being prepared for live export around the world; and learn about the town’s multi-million dollar lobster industry. Stop and enjoy a delicious fish and chip lunch (other options available). Continue to Nambung National Park (array of coastal dunes, rich in flowering plants, beautiful beaches of Kangaroo Point and Hangover Bay, western grey kangaroos) where we learn about the remarkable natural environment that houses the Pinnacles Desert. See the Pinnacles from the lookout or take a stroll through part of the Pinnacles Desert (containing thousands of limestone pinnacles, up to 5 meters high, over a massive area of 190 hectares) to get up close to these remarkable and mystical geological features. Visit the Pinnacle Desert Discovery Centre to learn even more about these natural wonders. Later you have the opportunity to experience or witness the thrill of sandboarding down the huge towering sand dunes and to take an optional light 4WD tour along the towering white sand dunes in Lancelin, the largest in Western Australia. Stop to see wildflowers throughout the day whilst they are in season (including orange flowering christmas tree, kangaroo paw, banksia, wattle and everlastings). Head back to Perth along the Indian Ocean Drive with your camera full of remarkable images of today's great adventure.

Enjoy a range of optional shore excursions on your cruise aboard the Astor that are designed to illustrate the highlights of each port of call and maximise your time ashore. All shore excursions are competitively priced and operated by qualified and reputable ground handlers. Enjoy the peace of mind knowing that you will return to the ship before it sails. Shore excursion programmes are released approximately 8 weeks prior to sailing and excursions can be pre-booked to ensure you do not miss out on your preferred excursion.

Adelaide and Perth Accommodation Included
You have 3 choices of accommodation in Adelaide & Perth. Our "Good Standard" central Adelaide & Perth hotels have great facilities, a comfortable room and friendly service (typically 3.5 stars). Alternatively, why not treat yourself? The "Deluxe" hotels have superior facilities, stylish room and first class service (typically 4 stars). The “Luxury” hotels are upscale with a more luxurious feel for the discerning traveller and great for celebrating an anniversary (typically 5 stars).

Airport and Port Transfers Included
You will be personally met by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred from Adelaide airport to your hotel on arrival in Adelaide, from your hotel to Port Adelaide Cruise Passenger Terminal to board the Astor, from Victoria Quay Passenger Terminal to your Perth hotel on arrival in Fremantle and at the end of your holiday, you will also be transferred from your Perth hotel to the airport for your flight home.

The Astor is a stylish boutique sized cruise-liner with a friendly onboard atmosphere. Catering for just 620 privileged guests ensures a close bond and camaraderie with fellow passengers and a more personal touch from the attentive and helpful crew. The feature packed ship has seven passenger decks, is fully stabilised and air-conditioned. You can indulge in the wonderful array of activities, entertainment and premium facilities designed for a more traditional and stylish cruising experience.
The Astor boasts comfortable cabins and impressive contemporary public areas. There are five lounge spaces to gather with friends and family, to relax by yourself, or to meet and get to know your fellow guests. For more leisurely options, stroll around the Promenade Deck, visit the sports deck (join in a game of volleyball, half-court tennis, table tennis or big board chess), make use of the jogging track, partake in a relaxing yoga session or meet like-minded passengers for some games of bridge, backgammon, chess etc.
Those keen on activity can choose a work-out in the gym, a make-over in the beauty salon, a swim in the outdoor or indoor pool or something a little less energetic in the form of a game or a quiet reading session in the library. Daily organised activities can range from arts and crafts to guest speakers. Check the daily activity list on board for all the options.
Many passengers kick off the evening with a pre-dinner drink at one of the ship’s several bars before making their way to dinner. Following dinner, Astor’s late night cabarets and live band allow you to continue well into the night, as does the late night deck party. If you prefer something a bit quieter, relax at the bar and enjoy the music from the resident pianist, perhaps enjoy a quiet game of cards, or take a romantic stroll on the deck with a loved one.
You have a choice of four dining options, from buffets, five course sittings and specialist restaurants, each with a variety of appetising food available for most of the day and night. Astor’s chefs excel in creating new and delicious dishes which will have you looking forward to your next meal. Main course options range from appetising seafood, Italian pastas, modern stir-fries and traditional roasts to tasty vegetarian and health-focussed options. A selection of fine Australian and European wines are available to complement your meal plus Australian draught beers are available at the ship’s bars.
