The Esplanade runs along the scenic foreshore of Westernport. There is a grassy embankment under cypress pines with picnic and barbecue facilities, a children's playground, toilets and a jetty that is a popular fishing spot. In front of the jetty are the War Memorial Gardens. The waterfront is a good place to launch canoes, sailboards and other small craft and there is a boat ramp.
A cruise from Cowes takes you to Seal Rocks where over 10 000 fur seals sunbathe on the rocks during the breeding season in November and December.
