Day 1 Sydney to Coffs Harbour

Day 2 Coffs Harbour to Gold Coast

Immerse yourself in the journey along the Pacific Highway this morning and stop in the exclusive Byron Bay. Embrace the laid back feel of Byron Bay, which is emphasised by the town?s excellent beaches.

Admire superb coastal views from Australia?s most eastern point at the Cape Byron Lighthouse. Dolphins may be viewed frolicking in the Pacific Ocean year round from this vantage point.

Follow the lush Tweed River Valley through World Heritage listed National Parks. Travel by the 35 kilometres of beaches, estuaries, small villages and headlands that form the Tweed Valley.

Cross the boundary over into Queensland and discover the vibrant Gold Coast ambience and enjoy dinner at one of the many local restaurants.

Day 3 Gold Coast to Hervey Bay

Travel to Brisbane and enjoy an orientation tour of the city and learn about the Boulder opals that are unique to the Queensland mining belt.

  • Journey to the bustling coastal town of Hervey Bay and experience the Whale Watch Capital of the World, home to the majestic humpback whales. Promoted as a family aquatic playground, popular activities include fishing from the kilometre long pier.
  • Witness distant views of the remarkable Fraser Island, which lies just offshore from Hervey Bay.

    Day 4 Fraser Island

    Cruise to World Heritage listed Fraser Island, and experience the longest sand island in the world. Board a 4WD and enjoy traversing over the exciting sand dunes. Discover the tall rainforests growing on the sand dunes at elevations of over 200 metres.

    Keep an eye out for the Fraser Island dingoes, which are one of the purest strains of dingo in the Australia. Have the opportunity to observe offshore marine life including turtles, dugongs and dolphins that frolic in the warm water.

    Tour 75 Mile Beach that boasts such attractions as the Champagne Pools, Indian Head and the Maheno Wreck. Encounter Lake Mackenzie and witness the perched lake that only contains rain water. Stop at Eli Creek, a popular spot for swimming.

    Day 5 Hervey Bay to Rockhampton

    Journey from Hervey Bay to Langmorn Station, a fully operational cattle station. Experience a fascinating insight into outback life and the Creed family who have worked the station for four generations.

    Enjoy afternoon tea at the homestead, a restored ?Queenslander? built in 1873.

    Cross the Tropic of Capricorn and continue to Rockhampton, situated on the banks of the Fitzroy River. Rockhampton contains Australia?s longest National Trust classified streetscape, with over 20 heritage buildings situated in Quay Street along the river.

    Day 6 Rockhampton to Daydream Island

    Travel through Mackay, Australia?s sugar capital, which produces around one-third of Australia?s sugar crop and has the world?s largest bulk-sugar loading terminal.

    Continue north to Airlie Beach where you will experience a picturesque peninsula that reaches out into the Whitsunday waters.

    Discover the heart of the Great Barrier Reef by taking a ferry cruise from Airlie Beach across to Daydream Island. Encounter the beautiful scenery of this protected area of the Great Barrier Reef, which is overseen by the Marine Park Authority.

    Day 7 Daydream Island

    Explore Daydream Island at leisure and immerse yourself in the serene environment of one of the Whitsundays islands.

    Enjoy the opportunity to participate in many activities that Daydream Island has on offer including beach volleyball, kayaking or tennis. Alternatively, you can relax on a rainforest walk where you may encounter birds, rock wallabies and lizards.

    Keep your eyes peeled for the harmless reef sharks and turtles that are a common sighting on the Great Barrier Reef. Admire the many varieties of native animals that call the National Park of Daydream Island home.

    Day 8 Daydream Island to Townsville

    Cruise form Daydream Island to Airlie Beach and travel north along the Queensland coast.

    Relax in the 11 hectares of natural environment at the Billabong Sanctuary and enjoy a guided tour. Marvel in the opportunity to hold a cute koala or a slithering snake.

    Travel to tropical Townsville where an increasing amount of marine research is being conducted due to the close proximity of the Great Barrier Reef.

    Day 9 Townsville to Cairns

    Journey north from Townsville, then climb the high tropical plateau known as the Atherton Tablelands, where lush rainforests, waterfalls and lakes abound.

    Visit the magnificent Millaa Millaa Falls which are surrounded by lush rainforest. Watch the falls cascade perfectly to a pristine waterhole below. View Curtain Fig Tree that has aerial roots that drop 15 metres to the ground.

    Encounter the serenity of Lake Barrine and watch for pelicans and other wildlife while aboard a guided cruise with full commentary of the area. Learn how the lake was created from a crater left from a volcanic explosion.

    Travel to Cairns and receive an orientation tour. The multicultural Esplanade follows the bay foreshore and combines the city life of cafes and shopping with the natural attractions of the Coral Sea.

    Day 10 Cairns

    Enjoy a day of leisure in Cairns where you have the opportunity to take an optional tour to the rainforest village of Kuranda where you can wander through the various stalls of the colourful Kuranda Markets.

    Alternatively, you can visit the famous Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park and experience theatrical performances in the History, Creation and Dance Theatres where you will learn about the culture and traditions of the Tjapukai people.

    Another option is to journey to the beautiful Cape Tribulation and the Daintree National Park. Encounter the portion of the Greater Daintree Rainforest that is protected by the National Park.

    Day 11 Great Barrier Reef

    Experience a relaxing full day cruise to Moore Reef. Enjoy a reef presentation by a marine naturalist to learn more about the wonders of the reef.

    Look out for the spectacular coral and tropical fish that may be viewed from a semi-submersible craft and glass-bottom boat. Experience unique marine life up close with the on board touch tank.

    Swim in Moore Reef and have the opportunity to experience unique marine life while you snorkle.

    Feast on a tropical buffet lunch before returning to Cairns.
