Day 1 Sydney to Coffs Harbour

Begin your coastal adventure by travelling north from Sydney to gorgeous coastal Coffs Habour, and setting up camp near the Pacific Ocean.

Overnight: Camping- Coffs Harbour

Day 2 Coffs Harbour to Gold Coast

Visit the colourful coastal town of Byron Bay, Australia?s most easterly point, before crossing the Queensland border and arriving at the famous Gold Coast.

Originally a sugar-cane capital, Gold Coast is now the largest non-capital city in the world, and a haven for surfers, shoppers, naturalists and swimmers alike.

Day 3 Gold Coast to Brisbane to Hervey Bay

Pass through Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland and see the acres of pineapple plantations as you head north. Introduced to Queensland from Brazil over 100 years ago, the pineapple is widely farmed and the unofficial mascot of tropical Queensland.

  • Visit the world-famous Australia Zoo, home of ?the Crocodile Hunter?, the late Steve Irwin. Originally opened in 1970 as a reptile park, it has grown to be a huge and popular zoo with a strong focus on wildlife conservation.

    Day 4 Fraser Island

    Spend the day on beautiful World Heritage Listed Fraser Island, with its ancient rainforests and long sandy beaches.

    Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world, and has been home to the Butchulla aboriginal people for thousands of years. In 1836, The Sterling Castle was shipwrecked on its shores, and the island was named after the sole survivor, Eliza Fraser.

    See wild dingoes, The Maheno, a sand-buried shipwreck, stunning rainforests and freshwater inland lakes on a full-day 4WD tour.

    Day 5 Hervey Bay to Raglan

    Visit Bundaberg, home of the famous ?Bundaberg Rum? distillery. Bundaberg is in the heart of the Queensland sugar-cane region, and back in the 1860?s, producing rum was a clever way of using up the by-product of molasses.

    The first barrel of Bundaberg rum was produced in 1888, and since then it has gone on to become arguably the best known and best loved rum in Australia.

    See the aptly named town ?1770?, where Captain James Cook first landed on the coast of Queensland, and continue to a historic farmstead in Raglan, where you will have the opportunity to see kangaroos in the wild.

    Day 6 Raglan to Airlie Beach

    Cross the Tropic of Capricorn and stop at historic Rockhampton on the banks of the Fitzroy River.

    Built up in the late 19th Century, the city has a number of beautiful, heritage-listed buildings such as the Post Office, the Customs House and the extravagant Criterion Hotel.

    Continue to Airlie Beach, gateway to the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef.

    Day 7 The Whitsundays

    Explore the magnificent Whitsunday Islands at your leisure. Laze on the spectacular Whitehaven beach and see why it is regarded as one of the world?s most beautiful beaches.

    Perhaps try sea-kayaking on the warm, crystal-clear waters, snorkelling through shoals of tropical fish, or exploring the ancient rainforests of the numerous islands.

    Day 8 Airlie Beach to Cairns

    Travel through the heart of mango country en route to Townsville (the unofficial capital of North Queensland) before arriving in Cairns.

    Day 9 The Great Barrier Reef

    Relax on a cruise on the world famous Great Barrier Reef. This World Heritage listed site is the largest single structure composed of living organisms, and is visible from space.

    Enjoy an informative guided tour and experience the beauty of this incredible reef with its abundance of coral and tropical fish. Explore the reef as you snorkel in the azure tropical waters before returning to Cairns.

    Explore Cairns at your leisure, perhaps join an exciting white-water rafting tour or a 4WD adventure, take the Skyrail up to the colourful Kuranda, explore Cape Tribulation or simply relax in this beautiful town.
