Bamaga is Australias most northerly town, situated only 40km from the very northern tip of the Cape York Peninsula. It is an isolated settlement of some 2000 people, most of whom are Torres Strait Islanders. Since Bamaga is only a small Aboriginal community at the top of the peninsula, the facilities here are very limited.

The main advantage of Bamaga is its accessibility to Thursday Island, situated 35 kilometres north of the tip of the Cape York Peninsula. Visit interesting historical sites, including Green Hill Fort with its abandoned bunkers and tunnels, where some of these tunnels are home to the Torres Strait Historical Museum. Churches, over 100 years old, and Lions Lookout with its magnificent sweeping vistas of the surrounding Islands and waters are also waiting to be discovered.
