South of Palm Cove, Clifton Beach, Kewarra Beach is completely protected from the southeasterly swell by a rocky headland, with a shallow sandbank filling much of the bay. The tropical waters are still deep enough to swim and a stinger net is in place during the stinger season; making Kewarra a very good family beach within the safety barriers. The beach is clean and wide, with picnic tables, play equipment, and public toilets. A short drive from Cairns CBD, Kewarra Beach has good access to the Cairns Convention Centre, Cairns Casino, the indoor waterside markets with excellent crafts and unique clothing, theatres, shops and other Cairns attractions.
