Hayman Island is the most northerly of the Whitsunday Islands and is regarded as the premier luxury destination in the Whitsunday group. Renowned for its world class resort, Hayman is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World group. Located about 28 kilometres north east of Shute Harbour, Hayman Island is a quiet mountainous continental island mainly covered with eucalypt and hoop pine. It is also the closest island to the Great Barrier Reef.
