Airlie Beach, population 1279, is part of the Whitsundays, in fact it is the mainland centre of the Whitsunday coast. Located 1135 km north of Brisbane, between Cannonvale and Shute Harbour, Airlie Beach is the major accommodation and dining destination for travellers planning to take trips out to the Whitsunday Islands.

In the town centre of Airlie Beach is a myriad of gift shops, fast foods to quality restaurants, pubs and bars, and shops catering for the needs of holidaymakers. Located only a few metres from the beach, the shopping centre has a holiday feel. The whole township has a distinctly tropical flavour.
To the south of Airlie Beach are the Cedar Creek Falls, set in a beautiful mountainous region on the edge of the Conway National Park. The falls tumble 12 metres through rainforest into a stream; ideal for swimming.
