Wagga Wagga, population 42 850, is roughly half way between Sydney and Melbourne. It is 470 kilometres, 292 miles southwest of Sydney and 435 kilometres, 270.3 miles northeast of Melbourne. Being the largest inland city in New South Wales, Wagga Wagga is a major centre for industry, commerce, education, agriculture and has two military bases.
