From Jindabyne continuing west for 30 kilometres, 18.8 miles along the Alpine Way are the ski resorts of Thredbo. Thredbo is a compact and attractive village squeezed into a narrow valley beside the Crackenback River. The alpine-style houses huddle against the mountainside.

Crackenback Chairlift
The Crackenback chairlift with its access to Mount Kosciuszko keeps Thredbo lively in summer. It rises 595 metres from the valley floor over some dramatic scenery and at the top there's a restaurant. The views over the valleys and the ranges of the Snowy Mountains are spectacular.

For those determined to reach the top of the continent, the walk to the top of Mount Kosciuszko is a 12 km hike 6 km each way and usually takes around 4-6 hours.
Yarrangobilly Caves
One of the specific sights to visit in the Snowy Mountains are the Yarrangobilly Caves found 113 kilometres, 70.6 miles north of Cooma. Yarrangobilly Caves are a system of around sixty caves at the edge of a rock plateau surrounded by unspoiled bushland.
