The more modern resort town of Jindabyne, 63 kilometres, 39.4 miles west of Cooma, is home to the Kosciuszko National Park Information Centre as well as a myriad of ski shops, lodges and nightlife. Jindabyne, population 4320 is completely new, having been relocated when the Snowy Mountains Scheme dammed the Snowy River and drowned the first settlement.
