DAY 5 – Kakadu Adventure and Cruise
World Heritage-listed Kakadu is internationally famous for very good reason. Experience Australia's biggest national park - with its dramatic escarpments, tropical rainforest, lush wetlands, millions of migratory birds, thundering waterfalls, sparkling waterholes, delicate waterlilies, prehistoric crocodiles, rock art galleries (up to 50,000 years old) and traditional aboriginal owners, the happy and proud Bininj/Mungguy people. Kakadu is a tapestry of treasures waiting to be explored with six (6) dramatically different seasons.
This morning skirt Francis Bay on Darwin Harbour, head out on Tiger Brennan Drive and see Berrimah Naval Defence base, Darwin suburb of Palmerston, spot for massive road-trains, head east on the Arnhem Highway, pass through Humpty Doo, cross the Marrakai Wetlands and Adelaide River. See the top end outback bush, eucalypts, palms and termite mounds. At Kakadu National Park on the South Alligator River, take a short guided walk to Nourlangie Rock to see ancient Aboriginal rock art (optional but included in the price), enjoy a tropical buffet lunch (cold meats, salad and fruit), take a 1.5 hour guided cruise on Yellow Water Billabong, spotting for crocodiles, brolgas, magpie geese and kites. DAY 6 – Litchfield National Park
This is a truly beautiful and spiritual destination. The iconic Litchfield National Park is famous for stunning cascading tropical waterfalls, warm swimming holes, the Tabletop Range sandstone plateau, monsoon tropical rainforests, intriguing magnetic termite mounds and ancient aboriginal sites of the Wagait people. Significant attractions include Florence Falls, Buley Rockhole, Wangi Falls, Tolmer Falls, Tjaetaba Falls, Tjaynera Falls (Sandy Creek), Surprise Creek Falls, Blyth Homestead and Bamboo Creek.
Today you will discover Litchfield, including Florence Falls, the termite mounds, Wangi Falls, Tolmer Falls, Buley Rockhole and will have the opportunity to take a dip in refreshing natural plunge pools boarded by magnificent pandanas palms.
We skirt Francis Bay on Darwin Harbour, head south out of Darwin on the Stuart Highway, take a short break at the town of Batchelor, stop at the Meridean Termite Mounds (learn about Cathedral and Magnetic Termite Mounds), visit Florence Falls (stunning views, perhaps walk down to the plunge pool for a swim in this beautiful oasis), visit Buley Rockhole (cascades and many rockpools offer an opportunity for a refreshing swim), perhaps take a walk to Tolmer Falls (breathtaking valley with a waterfall and distant views toward the coast over cattle stations), see monsoon forests and woodland areas, enjoy a homestyle lunch (with cold meats, salad and tea or coffee), visit Wangi Falls and plunge pool (perhaps take a dip or a stroll through lush tropical forest or relax and just take it all in). The Maluku Islands, located in an Indonesian archipelago and formerly known as the Moluccas are the original spice islands, they were a major region in the growing of nutmeg, cloves and mace, this scattering of idyllic islands are a wonderland of natural beauty with their white sand beaches, volcanoes and pristine reefs, the clear waters are ideal for diving and snorkelling.
Selaru Island is the second largest and most southernmost island in the Tanimbar Archipelago, the island lies in peaceful isolation off the beaten track and exudes a calm and relaxing environment, the island is home to various attractions including stunning beaches, caves containing skeletons and skulls, and a Japanese airstrip dating back to WWII.
Sail to the islands of Southern Maluku and make short stop at Selaru Island.

The beautiful tropical waters of the Arafura Sea lie between the north coast of Australia and the south coast of New Guinea occupying some 650000 square km, the shallow waters here offer frequent sightings of friendly dolphins and schools of tuna, the islands that dot the Arafura Sea offer a wonderful backdrop to the different coloured waters and make a beautiful sight.

Nares Point is a long sliver of sandstone which stretches out from the mainland next to Koolan Island in Western Australia's vast and remote Kimberley Region, the wonderful and elaborate rock formations here are exquisite and there are gorgeous beaches to explore, nearby Crocodile Creek offers chance to swim in cool and refreshing natural pools.
The Buccaneer Archipelago is a pristine wonderland of scattered and rugged islands lying in turquoise waters, the islands are home to glorious white sand beaches, lush rainforest and fringing mangroves, this ancient land has long been home to Aboriginal people and their colourful rock art can be found on many of the islands and the mainland.
Situated in the Talbot Bay region in the Buccaneer Archipelago, the Horizontal Waterfalls are one of the greatest natural wonders of the world, huge tidal movements create a waterfall effect as they're forced through narrow cliff passages demonstrating the immense power of the Kimberley tides and a spectacular show of the beauty of nature.
An amazing natural attraction of the Kimberley coast, Montgomery Reef is an astounding spectacle, as the outgoing tide ebbs away 5m of rugged reef emerges from the ocean, as the water drains through various channels the reef is alive with marine life such as turtles, reef sharks, manta rays and feeding birds.
Located in Western Australia's vast and remote Kimberley region, Raft Point is best known for its ancient Aboriginal rock art depicting the mythical Wandjina tribe with their distinctive haloes, it was named Raft Point after local Aboriginal tribes were spotted using rafts on fishing expeditions, the region is also a popular spot for fishing and mud crabbing.
Hunter River lies in the Kimberley region of WA and flows into the picturesque Prince Frederick Harbour and York Sound, the river's mouth is home to dramatic and rugged rock formations which reach some 200m in height, the scenery here is spectacular, the riverbanks lined with verdant rainforest, towering ochre cliffs and mangroves.
King George Sound is one of Western Australia's most resplendent natural harbours, lying on the south coast the sound is an inlet of the Indian Ocean and covers an area of 91 square km, this spectacular bay is home to sandy beaches and towering cliffs , a popular dive location due to several wrecks which lie there it also offers fantastic fishing opportunities.
Cruise around the Kimberley for the next five days taking in sights such as Nares Point and Crocodile Creek, Talbot Bay, Buccaneer Archipelago, Talbot Bay, Montgomery Reef, Raft Point, Hunter River and king George River and Falls.
For the next five days your Expedition Leader and Captain will determine your best course depending on tide, weather and sea conditions. Some of the highlights include Zodiac exploration of Nares Point, swimming in a natural pool in Crocodile Creek, a Zodiac ride through horizontal falls and exploring the geological formations of Cyclone Creek. Experience the amazing tidal changes at Montgomery Reef and Zodiac out to Raft Point for a hike up to spectacular views of the bay. Take in the Wandjina Spirit and listen to the Dreamtime stories associated with this important Aboriginal spirit. Explore the narrow mangrove channels of the Hunter River looking out for numerous species of birds and saltwater crocodiles. Drop anchor at the mouth of the King George River and Zodiac up to the King George Falls and cruise close to the base of the falls.
The historic pearling town of Broome sits on the western edge of the vast and remote Kimberley region and is the largest town in Australia's ruggedly beautiful north west, the town is cosmopolitan and exudes a laid back ambience and is home to several historic buildings including The Sun Picture Theatre which is the world's oldest operational open-air theatre.
